ATTACHMENT A TO SECTION 01900
REVISIONS TO THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
Materials
Materials shall meet the requirements of Section 6-02.2 of the WSDOT Standard Specifications.
Design Requirements
The minimum design loads shall be in accordance with ASTM C 890 and AASHTO "Standard
Specifications for Highway Bridges", HS-20 All joints and vvelds shall be made watertight and provided
with water stops. Treatment of joints and weids in the iield after the vault installation may be necessary.
Due to potential high groundwater levels the Pre-Treatment Vault wall design shall include a component
for hydrostatic lateral pressure. The design shall also resist uplift (orces (buoyancy). The project
geotechnical report recommends that a lateral earth pressure value of 90 pcl be used.
Vaults shall, at a minimum, meet structurl requirements for AASHTO H2O-44 loading. Assume two lane
widths oi live load run lengthwise. Whel loads with full impact sh<,II be concentrated onto ihe vault top
when the load path is applied directly through the maintenance/access (manholes} risers. The dead load
shall be based on the depth of the pavement, base and fill over the vault (overburden) assumed to weigh
125 pounds per cubic toot.
All vaulis shall also meet structural requirements for overburden support. Cast-in-place wall sections
shall be designed as retaining walls. A structura! engineer licensed in ihe State of Washington shall
stamp all structural designs. Vaults shall be placed on 18 inches of crushed surfacing base course
overlying competent native soil.
All pre-cast concrete manhole sections tor mair, tenancelaccess risers shail meet the requirements of
Section 9-12.4 Pre-cast Concrete Manholes of the Standard Specitications, except the hole diameter
sliall be as shown in the Plans.
Reinforced Concrete Vault Working Drawings
The Contractor shall submit complete reinforced concrete vault working drawings and catculations in
accordance with Section 6-01.9 of the Standard Specifications.
Construction requiremenis shall also be in accordance with Section 6-02.3 oi the WSDOT Standard
Specificatios.
CURBS, GUTTERS AP1D SPILLWAYS
Construction Reqirements
Cement Concrete Curbs, Gutters and Spillways
Section 8-04.3(1) is supplemented by ihe following:
Joinis and scoring shall be per the Plans, wilh 1/2" through-expansion joints at beginning of
curves, at curb return tangency points, at each side of catch basins, and at driveways.
The subbase for cu:b and gutter sections shall be compacted to 95% density at optimum
moisture content be(ore placing lhe curb and gutter.
The top o( the finished concrete shall not deviate more than 1/8" in 10', nor the aliynment 1/4" in
10'.
The concrete cur6 will be depressed for wheelchair ramps and driveways. Curb ramps shall be
constructed flush with ihe gutter line.
At locations hown in ihe Plans, the Contractor shall consiruct storm drainage frames and
grates into cement concrete curb and gutter.
Capital Projecis Commuter Rail Attachment A to Sectior 01900 - 26 IFB No. RTA/CP 21-06
Everett Station Phase 2REVISIONS TO THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONSAddendum No.4
