Additionally, pedestrian gates at the north and west sides of the Carcer Center
project site, and at the west siiE of the parking garage site, will be incorporated
into the site fence. These will be utilized for safety (emergency egress) as well as
by the survey team lo facilitate iheir work. These pedestrian only gates will not be
commonly used for access into and out of either project site.
For the temporary construction parking at the community college site the main
traffic entrance will be ued for pedestrian access. In addition, the e>;isting
pedestrian access onto the community college site, at the north anri east sides of
the property will be maintained along with access to the existing building at the
northeast corner of the community college property.
Cranes
Mobile cranes may be utilized on the Cancer Center project site a, various times.
Generally these cranes will work within the limits of:!ie project.
Mobile cranes will be utilized for ihe construction of !he Paking Garage project.
A large lattice toom crawler crane will erect structurai ster:l from the west side of
the ninned garage, along Rockefeller. Smaller hydraulic cranes will be used at
various times for other activities including enclosure install:3tion. If it becomes
necessary for one of these cranes to be located outside of lhe project boundary,
a detailed plan will be reviewed with the City of Everett befcra implementation.
Sidewalks
All sidewalks aleng the north, west, and south sides of the Cancer Center project
site will remain closed until the project is complete. Signage re-directing
pedestrians will be provided as appropriate.
Sidewalks on lhe north (13"' Street), west !Rockefeller), and south (14`h Street)
sides of the parking garage project will remain closed for the duration of lhe
parking garage construclion. The newly constructed sidewalks at lhe Oaks Ave.
landscape buffer will remain open at all times.
Special consideration has been given to the need to safely re-direct children
around the r,onstruction sites as they walk to and from Whittier Elementary
school, which is approximately 2 - 3 blocks norlh of the project sites. The use of
s'age and barricades will be part of the effort to insure safety, and the
construction team will place special emphasis on monitoring this process during
the first weeF.s after any traffic revision. Monitoring to date suggests that many
children that travel from the south to Whittier pass through the Everett
Community College athletic building site. If they continue utilizing this route
during construction of the parking garage, this pedestrian access may be closed
ror a short period of time and pedestrians re-routed around the new completed
Cancer Center to avoid intermingling of construc.tion parking on the community
college site with children traveling to and from school. The construction team will
closely monitor this to ensure safety.
No other alternative pedestrian routes have been identified as necessary at this
time.
W: ;
