)
Exhibit A—Description of Changed Work
This change order adjusts bid items to show actual quantities installed and includes changes made
during construction as follows:
1. Attached Work Change Directive#1 for$5,092.13 reimbursed the Contractor for overtime
needed to expedite work to shorten a shut down of water. This item was paid for out of the
Force Account Bid Item 17. No days were added by this Work Change Directive.
2. Attached Work Change Directive#2 for$773.51 added a catch basin, frame and grated lid.
This item was paid for out of the Force Account Bid Item 17. No days were added by this
Work Change Directive.
3. Attached Work Change Directive#3 for$27,696.92 and 14 days revised the location of the
Portal 6 precast vault and switched the locations of an existing motor operated butterfly valve
with a manually operated buried butterfly valve. $24,134.36 of this item was paid for out of the
existing Force Account Bid Item 17. This Change Order will add $3,562.56 to Force Account
Bid Item 17. Fourteen days were added to the Contract by this Work Change Directive.
4. Attached Work Change Directive#4 for$1,663.83 paid the Contractor to rotate an existing flat
top manhole cover and provide and install a valve box ring and cover. This Change Order will
add the $1,663.83 to Force Account Bid Item 17. No days were added by this Work Change
Directive.
5. This Change Order will add $2927.50 to Force Account Bid Item 17 to pay for additional
electrical work required when the Portal 6 precast vault had to be installed in an alternate
location from that shown in the Contract Documents.
6. This Change Order will decrease the Contract Imported Fill, Bid Item 11, by 509.69 tons and
$9,174.42.
7. This Change Order will decrease the Contract 2 Man, Split Faced Rocks, Bid Item 14, from 30
to 23 and$420.00.
JUSTIFICATION:
1. The City of Everett requested Razz Construction to work overtime to limit the length of a water
shut down.
2. The catch basin was added to prevent ponding of water behind a newly installed retaining wall.
3. The design location for the new Portal 6 precast vault was in the same location as the existing
vault. When excavating for the new precast vault foundation, a huge concrete backing block
was in the way. To resolve the conflict the existing motor operated butterfly valve and per
Contract to be buried butterfly valve were switched and the precast vault moved to the new
location.
4. The Contract included removing existing above ground structures that housed the existing
access manholes to existing butterfly valves. The intent was to install new manhole covers with
a removable 6-inch access opening to allow operating the butterfly valves. The existing
manhole covers did not line up with the valve operators so the flat-top concrete manhole covers
were rotated to line up with access ladders and new 6-inch valve covers were installed to allow
operation of the butterfly valves without the need to enter the manholes.
5. Under the original contract the electrical contractor would have protected existing conduit and
conductors when the general contractor removed the existing 4-line motor operated valve house
and then secured the conduit and conductors after the new precast vault was slid around the
existing conduit. When the vault needed to be moved the electrical contractor had to cut the
Page 3 of 4 18
