watersheds; (2) provide observed funcdonal values (e.g. food chain
support) of these natural habitats; and (3) result in a self-sustaining
ecosystem, at the end of a 5 yeaz monitorIng perIod, taking into
consideratlon any ecosystem decline that has been observed within
monitored natural habitats."
As written, this hyporhesis contains general statements that aze vague i.e.
natural variabllity, self-sustaining ecosystem, and any ecosystem decline.
This midgatlon plan contains speciflc goals and objectives for determining
the success of midgarion at the site. These goals and objectives are stated
below.
GOAIS AND OBJECTNES
The goal of the proposed midgation is to compensate for impacts to
wedands and wedand buffers due to the proposed development, by
creating and/or improving environmentally senstdve areas on the
property. The long term objectives of mitigadon are to create and
rehabilitate wetland areas that wIll replce or enhance the funcdons and
values of the impacted wetlands, diversify the plant community and
improve wlldlife habitat. The short term objectives aze:
• Establlsh an environmentally sensitive azea protective covenant, into
which will be placed: the wlldlife corridors, wedands, wedand
buffers, stream, and stream buffer.
• Regrade th midgadon areas, to establlsh natural hydrology
adequate to support hydrophytic vegetation.
• Hydroseed the mitlgation areas, to provide erosion control.
• Establish ten foot wide wlldlife corridors along the southern half of
the western boundary of Phase I from wedand 2, along the western
half of the southern bour.dary, and along the southeni half of the
eastern boundary.
• Plant the created and rehabllitated wedands and buffers with nadve
vegetation.
• Fence around the outer edge of the wetland buffers, the stream
buffer, and the wildlife corridors prior to commencing development
activitIes.
2
