progress of all midgation areas, as well as problems and any conecdve
measures taken. Monitoring will continue, in accordance with the MDNS,
for one year after the criteria for success is met.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The performance standards for the Casper Creek property were created
using the requirements in the MDNS and the standards of the previous
mitigation plan submittals. Evaluadon of the success of the plantings will
be based on expected summer cover percentages, species health, and an
8096 Pcperted survival rate of all species. The final test, for wedand
mitigarion and enhancemeni of wedand #2, will be a comparison of
diversity, cover and species, between the pristine vegetadon plot and the
two midgation monitoring plots.
Plan[ C'over Minimums
Emergent species: one year 15-309U
three years 30-G096
five years 8096
Scrub/shrub species: one year 20-3096
three years 40-504b
five years 60-8096.
Upland buffer species: one year 10-2096
three years 25-4096
five years 5096
As stated in the MDNS, the species mix should resemble that proposed in
the above Planting Plan secdon, but the planting will not be judged a
failure as long as the planted azeas are densely vegetated with native,
non-invasive species. Evaluaaon of the success of the mitlgation will also
be based on species re-colonization of ihe areas of Silver Lake Creek
adjacent to midgation areas, bird, small mammal, amphibian and insect
divErsity and abundance, as per the MDNS.
Standard methods for collecdon of data and its analysis will be used. As
suggested in the MDNS, the monitoring subjects to be evaluated in the
determination of project success should be similaz to other monitored
areas within the Sllver Lake watershed and other adjacent Palustrine
scrub/shrub wedand ecosystems.
9
