The property was not surveyed by an engineer but by the <br />building contractor. <br />2. The measurements to the front property line were taken from, <br />the center of the street and this was the reason for the error <br />in the placement of the footings. <br />3. There is some area to the rear of the house. <br />4. There is a natural drainage ditch to the rear and several <br />loads of sand had been hauled in to give the house a good <br />foundation. <br />5. The building will be a single-family residence. <br />Mr. Bud Alexander, a neighbor to the south, spoke against the <br />variance. Mr. Alexander also mentioned a drainage problem that <br />would need attention before a permanent foundation could be ex- <br />pected. <br />After visual observation of the property and considering all the <br />facts and testimony, it was moved by Mr. Berg seconded by Mr. <br />Russell and unanimously carried to deny the applicant's request <br />for the following reasons: <br />1. The property should have been surveyed and property lines <br />established before any footings were constructed. <br />2. The applicant has enough property to the rear of the building <br />to comply with the twenty (20) foot setback. <br />A hearing was.held on the application of James Gaffney Construction <br />1202 Berkshire Diive, Everett, Washington, for a variance from <br />Section 19.18.010 E.C.C.
