4
The topsoil layer contains generally sa-'y surface soils
oeneath a substantial accumulation of forest duff. Pre-
paration for construction will necessarily disturb this
layer over most of the site. Areas for construction of
buildings and paved areas will generally be stripped of
these near -surface soils and will experience varying
degrees of grading and/or filling with suitable materials.
These areas will then be covered over. Surface soils
should be very suitable for stockpiling and future use
on the site as topsoils in lawn and landscaping areas.
Temporary erosion control should be used while soils are
exposed during construction, or stockpiled.
The actual extent of grading and filling on building
sites is expected to be slight, with cuts and fills of
moderate depth levelling the building sites. The most
extensive topographic change would be construction of
earth berms along the northerly site boundaries ;s an
acoustic and visual barrier.
(
2.
