Task 300 — Pre -Design
Objective
HDR will develop a conceptual layout for the preferred option, including modifications to DS -0.
For scoping purposes, a pipeline, at 96 -inches, was used. If the pump station alternative, or
other alternative beyond the 3 base alternates, is selected, a revision to the scope will be
necessary.
HDR Services
1. Develop a location, preliminary layout and design configuration for the new/expanded
DS -0 facility.
2. Establish a pipeline route and size.
3. Develop a pipeline discharge structure/protection plan.
4. Participate and lead a Design Workshop with the City.
a) One workshop will be conducted with City staff to evaluate design approach,
standards, and coordinate operation and maintenance. The workshop will be used
as a means to gain design input and make team decisions on the following:
i. Facility layout, preferred pipe materials, safety features, piping layout and
valving, equipment, and control strategy.
ii. Discuss the discharge location and mixing within the lagoon.
5. Pre -Design Report:
a) Summarize the design workshop, sizing, equipment, layout, and operations of the
proposed DS -0 facility.
b) Include the modeling TM as an appendix, summarize the sizing in the pre -design
report.
c) Include a draft process flow diagram (PFD) of the new DS -0 system. PFD will
include a draft schematic design of the process and mechanical features only. PFD
will not include SCADA interface.
d) Include draft structural review of the DS -0 facility. Based on the selected
configuration and locations of the proposed facilities, structural engineering design
criteria will be developed to guide the preliminary design of the new DS -0 facility. The
Structural Design Criteria will identify and define materials to be used, applicable
loading and load combinations, deflection and operations criteria. The criteria will be
outlined in the pre -design report and include the following:
L Structural design Codes, Standards, and References
ii. Materials
iii. Structural Modeling
iv. Structural support system
v, Loads
vi. Soil properties and design parameters such as:
1) Unit weight
2) Vertical Modulus of Subgrade Reactions
3) Coefficient of FC[ction between Concrete and Soil
^) Ailowable Bearing Capacity
Citv el vereii—`d't Diversion SfruCiure 0 ,} vccpe of Services
