Construction <br /> 1. New exterior walls (built without permits), roof structure and supporting structure should be shown on <br /> the drawings. Please reference the attached corrections letter dated 12/2000. <br /> 2. The drawings should indicate that the new toilet room has a five foot clearance between the wall <br /> parallel to the toilet fixture and the sink, per ICC A177-1-2009 Figure 604.3. Enlarged plans and <br /> elevations are required for review. <br /> 3. Elevations of toilets rooms should show floor, base and wall treatments, per IBC section 1210.2. <br /> 4. The new deck construction, guard (if exceeding 30 inches above adjacent grade), use (additional <br /> seating), and access should be detailed on the drawings. Please submit an elevation of the new deck <br /> to indicate any additional construction, such as a roof or awning. <br /> 5. New partitions should show a section indicating how they will resist a horizontal load of 5 psf, per IBC <br /> section 1607.14. <br /> 6. A Type I hood is required for all cooking appliances that produce grease or smoke, per IMC section <br /> 507.2.1. The following drawings are required for the architectural building permit submittal: <br /> a. A wall section behind the Type I hood should be shown on the drawings. A wall section of wood <br /> studs requires 18"clearance to the Type I hood, per IMC 507.9. <br /> To reduce the 18 inch clearance to the Type I hood, the section should show identify and <br /> dimension the method for clearance reduction of an approved vertical combustible <br /> assemblies, per IMC Table 308.6. <br /> • If the wood wall were replaced with metal studs and gypsum board, additional clearance <br /> from the Type I hood would not be required if the gypsum board is covered with stainless <br /> steel (or similar smooth, cleanable, nonabsorbent and noncombustible material), per the <br /> exception to IMC section 507.9. <br /> b. A section should be shown for the Type I hood. Where the kitchen ceiling abuts the Type I <br /> hood, 18 inches of a smooth, cleanable, nonabsorbent and noncombustible material should be <br /> shown on the drawings between the hood and the ceiling material, per the exception to IMC <br /> section 507.9. <br /> c. The drawings should indicate that the combustible wall (wood studs) will have 18" clearance to <br /> the Type I hood duct, per IMC 506.3.6. <br /> • To reduce the clearance, the drawings should indicate details of the duct covering and a <br /> manufacturer's specification sheet with testing indicating one hour fire resistant enclosure in <br /> accordance with ASTM E 2336, per IMC section 506.3.6, exception 3. <br /> d. The extent of the smooth, cleanable, nonabsorbent and noncombustible material behind the <br /> Type I hood should be shown on the drawings in elevation and noted to extend 18 inches in all <br /> directions from the hood to the full height of the hood canopy, and below the hood to the floor <br /> base, per the exception to IMC section 507.9. <br /> e. On the deferred Type I Hood mechanical permit, the start and termination of the grease duct <br /> fire wrap for the Type I hood ducts should be shown on building section to extend from the <br />
