If off-duty uniformed police officers are not available for traffic control for Work within , <br /> signalized intersections, Contractor may provide four flaggers. Flaggers are not permitted <br /> within the intersection. Each flagger shall control only one approach and be stationed near the <br /> stop bar. Provide a minimum of a series of three warning signs in advance of each flagger. <br /> Narrow multi-lane approaches to a single lane approaching the flagger. Provide and require all <br /> flaggers use two-way radios to signal each other to prevent conflicts and hold traffic when <br /> construction activities require. , <br /> When the Bid proposed includes an item for"Traffic Control Labor,"the Work covered by this <br /> item shall be for the labor actually used when authorized by the Engineer for: <br /> 1. The services of flaggers at both ends of a 2-way,single lane operation;or <br /> 2. The services of flaggers at signalized intersections if off-duty uniformed police <br /> officers are not available,or when otherwise specifically directed by the Engineer. <br /> The hours eligible for "Traffic Control Labor" shall be for the hours actually worked, plus 1 <br /> hour of on-site orientation per flagger. "Show-up time" will not be counted. The labor to <br /> perform the Work described in the item "Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Control" is <br /> specifically excluded from this Work.No adjustment will be made to the unit price for"Traffic <br /> Control Labor"for overtime or holiday hours worked. <br /> 1-10.3(4)A Traffic Control —Off-Duty Police Officer <br /> Provide off-duty uniformed Police Officer for traffic control at all signalized <br /> intersections. Acceptable sources for off-duty uniformed Police Officers are as follows in <br /> order of preference: <br /> 1. City of Everett Police Department,contact either, ' <br /> a. Contact Nick Janssen,(360)681-7737 <br /> 1-103(5) Construction Signs <br /> All signs required by the approved traffic control plan(s) as well as any other appropriate signs <br /> prescribed by the Engineer will be furnished by the Contractor and be paid under the item <br /> "Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Control." The Contractor shall erect them on posts or <br /> supports and maintain them in a clean, neat, and presentable condition until the necessity for <br /> them has ceased. All non-applicable signs shall be removed or covered with either metal or <br /> plywood during periods when they are not needed. When the need for any of these signs has <br /> ceased, the Contractor, upon approval of the Engineer, shall take down these signs, posts, or <br /> supports. All signs, posts, and supports shall be removed from the project and shall remain the <br /> property of the Contractor. <br /> There shall be no separate classification of signs. All construction signs, whether used <br /> throughout the construction, during a major phase of construction or removed daily shall be <br /> paid under the item "Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Control." Portable or temporary <br /> mountings may require added weight for stability. If it is necessary to add weight to the signs, <br /> only a bag of sand that will rupture on impact shall be used. The bag of sand shall have a <br /> maximum weight of 40 pounds and shall be suspended no more than 1-foot from the ground. <br /> The Work to provide the construction signing shall be: ' <br /> 1. Furnishing all construction signs. <br /> 2. Furnishing,removing,and disposing of the posts or supports for the signs. <br /> 3. Initial installation and subsequent removal of all construction signs. <br /> 4.
