I <br /> DIVISION 4—BASES <br /> 4-04 BALLAST AND CRUSHED SURFACING <br /> 4-04.1 Description <br /> Supplement 4-01.1 by adding the following: <br /> Where shown in the plans or directed by the Engineer, the Contractor shall place, smooth, and <br /> compact "Crushed Surfacing Base Course" and/or "Crushed Surfacing Top Course." Crushed <br /> surfacing will be used as driveway maintenance material and in gravel driveway restoration to a <br /> minimum depth of 3" and in the roadway section as shown on the plans or as directed by the <br /> Engineer. <br /> The quantity shown in the proposal is an estimate for the purpose of establishing a unit price <br /> only. Actual quantities will be measured as construction progresses. The Engineer may require <br /> that some or all of the crushed surfacing be removed because of contamination or to meet final <br /> grades. Removal shall be considered incidental to "Crushed Surfacing Top Course" and/or <br /> "Crushed Surfacing Base Course." <br /> 4-04.3 Construction Requirements <br /> 4-04.3(12) Gravel Driveways <br /> Where the existing gravel driveways must be removed in order to allow construction of the new <br /> roadway cut or fill,they shall be replaced in accordance with the following: <br /> "Gravel driveways restoration shall consist of 3" of "Crushed Surfacing Base Course" on <br /> subgrade compacted to 95% standard density. Preparation and compaction of the subgrade shall <br /> be incidental to"Crushed Surfacing Base Course." <br /> 4-04.4 Measurement <br /> Delete all paragraphs of 4-04.4 and substitute the following: <br /> Bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be measured as <br /> described in Division B — Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and Section 1-09 , <br /> MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 4-04.5 Payment <br /> Delete all paragraphs in 4-04.5 and substitute the following: <br /> Payment for bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be as <br /> described in Division B — Bid Item Descriptions of these Special Provisions and Section 1-09 <br /> MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br /> Supplement Division 4 by adding the following: <br /> 4-06 ASPHALT TREATED BASE <br /> 4-06.1 Description <br /> Asphalt treated base consists of a compacted course of base material which has been <br /> weatherproofed and stabilized by treatment with an asphalt binder. <br /> The Work shall consist of one or more courses of asphalt treated base placed on the Subgrade in <br /> accordance with the Specifications and in conformity with the lines, grades, thicknesses, and <br /> typical cross-section shown in the Plans or as staked. <br /> 4-06.2 Materials <br /> Materials shall meet the requirements of the following sections: <br /> Asphalt 9-02.1 <br /> Anti-Stripping Additive 9-02.4 <br /> HAYES STREET REGULATOR February, 2017 <br /> AND CSO CONTROLS (SRO1, SRO2,AND SRO3) <br /> WO No—UP3398-31 SP - 147 <br />
