LIGHTED PARKING(26 STALLS)
Neighborhood facilities:picnic area, play area, and neighborhood gathering areas
Picnic Area
The master plan preserves the existing picnic shelter in its cur-
rent location and adds a second matching shelter. The shel-
ters are conveniently located near the main parking lot and
drop-off and are easily accessible from the on-street parking
provided in the plan. The shelters anchor the northwest corner
of a large open lawn and are closely associated with the chil-
dren's play areas, horseshoe pits, restrooms, and demonstra-
tion gardens. Additional picnic tables are provided around the
open lawn area.
Play Area
An approximately 11,000 square foot play area surrounded by
a low barrier or ornamental fence is located at the west side of
the site to-the south of the picnic shelters. Play equipment ori-
ented toward older children (5-12 years) is separated from
equipment oriented toward tots (2-5 years). The play area is
easily accessible from the 18th Street parking, and closely as-
sociated with the restrooms, picnicking, open lawn and dem-
