The School District will use the money to <br /> buy land or portables. <br /> The Mukilteo School District submitted a letter dated <br /> July 17 , 1989 , which was presented to the Planning Commission <br /> at the July 18, 1989 public hearing. In their letter, Dr. <br /> James Shoemake stated, "At this point, Mr. Huber has <br /> volunteered to pay $230,000 to the School District upon first <br /> issuance of any occupancy permit. He has also offered to <br /> continue to assist us in our search for future building sites. <br /> Upon confirmation of this voluntary mitigation, I believe that <br /> the impact of the development, as it regards unhoused student <br /> needs in the district, will be fairly mitigated. " The <br /> Mukilteo School District submitted an additional letter on <br /> October 10 , 1989 which confirmed the agreement reached by the <br /> Applicant and the School District. <br /> At the public hearing before City Council on January 17 , <br /> 1990 , the Applicant submitted a letter which had been <br /> presented to the Mukilteo School District. The letter stated <br /> that Merrill Creek JV has increased their offer to the <br /> Mukilteo School District to include the donation of a 3 .9 acre <br /> portion of the Merrill Creek site. In addition, K and G <br /> Associates has agreed to sell an adjacent 6.9 acre site to the <br /> School District for a school site. <br /> CONCLUSIONS <br /> The Mukilteo School District has stated that they will <br /> provide an education for all students in the District. <br /> However, the District is currently overcrowded and the bond <br /> issue passed to construct new school facilities did not take <br /> into account the students that would be generated from the <br /> Merrill Creek site. The Applicant has reached a voluntary <br /> agreement with the School District to mitigate the impact of <br /> their proposal by paying a voluntary fee of $230 ,000 to the <br /> 16 <br />
