July 19, 2017 <br /> CITY ATTORNEY <br /> City Attorney Iles had no comments. <br /> CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> Sean Renfro, Everett, spoke about gang related issues and crime. <br /> Jackie Minchew, Everett, spoke about climate change. <br /> COUNCIL BREIFING AGENDA: <br /> COUNCIL BILL 1707-30 <br /> FIRST AND SECOND READING: <br /> AN ORDINANCE of the Everett City Council concerning a vote on <br /> the issue of creating districts to elect five of seven Everett City <br /> Council members and requesting that the Snohomish County Auditor <br /> place this measure on the ballot of the November 2017 ballot <br /> Presented by Jim Iles, Legal <br /> Discussion took place regarding a petition to amend the City Charter to <br /> provide for council district elections, which is being circulated by Everett <br /> Districts Now (EDN). If the petition obtains sufficient verified signatures, <br /> then by ordinance the petition would be transmitted to the County for <br /> inclusion on the ballot. The deadline for the County to receive the <br /> transmittal is August 1 , 2017 for inclusion on the November 2017 ballot. By <br /> combining the 1st and 2nd ordinance readings on July 19, Council will be <br /> able to adopt the ordinance on third reading on July 26, 2017, if prior to that <br /> date, the County informs the City that the petition has sufficient verified <br /> signatures. <br /> Liz Vogeli, Greg Lineberry, Megan Dunn, Mary Rollins, Michael Trujillo, and <br /> Jonathan Peebles, all of Everett, spoke in favor of districting and of the <br /> Everett Districts Now ballot measure. <br /> 235 <br />
