Aril 1982 - <br /> P Southwest Everett Comprehensive Plan adopted by City <br /> Council. The Plan covers 4,400 acres and promotes 2,050 <br /> acres for planned industrial development/manufacturing uses <br /> and 2,350 for residential uses. <br /> May 1982 - South Broadway/Diagonal Way streets changed to Everett Mall <br /> Way to promote the Mall's use. <br /> June 1982 - Everett Industrial Development Corporation is created in <br /> which the Board of Directors (the City Council) has the <br /> authority to approve the selling of Industrial Revenue Bonds_ <br /> August 1982 - City staff completes study of the Downtown Everett <br /> Association which includes specific recommendations for <br /> improving its effectiveness in aiding downtown redevelopment, <br /> diversification and promotion. <br /> City staff initiate preparation and publication of an Everett <br /> Community Profile (complete statistical overview of the <br /> community). <br /> September 1982 - Mayor Moore and City staff begin phase two of the downtown <br /> • redevelopment program. Basic phase two strategy involves <br /> organizing core group of major downtown business leaders to <br /> formulate and implement specific redevelopment actions. <br /> September 1982 - City staff initiates study of the changes in downtown <br /> businesses from 1975 to 1982 and conducts a survey of current <br /> downtown businesses to evaluate changes in the number and <br /> type of establishments over the seven year period. <br /> September 1982 - City changes the name of the major street route leading to the <br /> Port of Everett to Marine View Drive. <br /> October 1982 - Mayor and downtown core group tour Eugene and Portland and <br /> meet with redevelopment staffs of those cities. <br /> November 1982 - NBBJ/MPS and SRI planning consultants complete a year long <br /> community-wide performing arts and cultural facilities <br /> feasibility study. Study recommends that a multi-purpose <br /> facility be constructed in the CED. <br /> December 1982 - City begins community economic assessment study to be <br /> carried out by the Thorsen-Peterson Planning Group. City <br /> Council agrees to fund an add-on downtown base data <br /> inventory and market survey/projection by TPPG. <br />
