SECTION 02613- BITUMINOUS CONCRETE PAVEMENT <br /> PART 1 GENERAL <br /> ' 1.01 DESCRIPTION <br /> A. The work of this section consists of constructing a surface course composed of aggregate <br /> and bituminous material, placed on a prepared base, to lines, grades, and typical cross <br /> sections indicated. <br /> B. The aggregate material shall be obtained from commercial approved sources. <br /> C. Prepare aggregate base course as specified in Section 02606. <br /> 1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Standards as established by American Association of State Highway and Transportation <br /> Officials (AASHTO), as amended, latest editions, govern the work of this section. <br /> B. See Section 02021. <br /> ' 1.03 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. Submit the job Marshall mix design and gradation of asphalt. <br /> B. Furnish certified weight slips for each load of asphalt cement. <br /> 1.04 PRODUCT HANDLING <br /> A. Transport mixture in pneumatic tired vehicles with tight bodies cleaned of all foreign <br /> materials. Cover each load with canvas or other suitable material. Minimum delivery <br /> temperature shall be average of mixing temperatures. <br /> 1.05 JOB CONDITION <br /> A. Weather Limitations:Apply tack coats when ambient temperature is above 50°F(100C),and <br /> when temperature has not been below 35°F (1°C) for 12 hours immediately prior to <br /> application. Do not apply when base is wet or contains an excess of moisture. <br /> B. Construct asphalt concrete surface course when the temperature of the air or roadbed is <br /> 50°F or greater. Do not pave on a rainy day, when base is wet, or other unfavorable <br /> condition as determined by the Engineer. <br /> C. Grade Control: Establish and maintain required lines and elevations. <br /> 1 PART 2 MATERIALS <br /> 2.01 AGGREGATE <br /> ' A. Surface course aggregate shall consist of crushed stone, crushed gravel, crushed slag, <br /> and/or sharp edged natural sand meeting the following gradation requirements: <br /> ' 1. Hot Plant-Mix Bituminous Pavements <br /> Sieve Designation *Grading Designation <br /> 1/2 inch 100 <br /> 3/8 inch 70-90 <br /> No. 4 45-65 <br /> No. 16 17-31 <br /> No. 50 6-18 <br /> ' No. 200 3-7 <br /> *Percentage by weight passing,testing in accordance with AASHTO T 11,T 27,and <br /> T 30. <br /> SPORTSMAN'S WAREHOUSE 02613- 1 <br />
