3.03 PLACING AND FINISHING CONCRETE , <br /> A. Place concrete monolithically between expansion joints. Deposit to full depth in one operation; <br /> consolidate immediately, using an internal vibrator,to a dense, smooth surface. Use wooden or cork <br /> hand float for finishing. Round edges of face and back as detailed. Construct curb in uniform 8-foot <br /> sections. For closures, sections a minimum of 4 feet may be used. Separate sections by sheet <br /> templates of metal set perpendicular to face and top of curb. Templates, 1/8 inch thick, same width <br /> as curb, and 2 inches deeper than curb depth. Open template joints with a double edger to provide a <br /> tooled joint after concrete has set sufficiently. Drop curb when shown is considered same as curb <br /> and gutter for payment. <br /> 3.04 EXPANSION JOINTS <br /> A. Form at intervals not to exceed 40 feet or as indicated using pre-molded fill 1/2 inch thick. Edge joints <br /> when concrete has set sufficiently. <br /> 3.05 FORM REMOVAL <br /> A. Remove within 24 hours after concrete placement. Repair minor defects with mortar containing I part <br /> Portland cement and 2 parts fine aggregate. Plastering will not be permitted on exposed faces. <br /> 3.06 EXPOSED AGGREGATE (When Shown On Drawings) ' <br /> A. Expose aggregate same day concrete is poured by removing face forms immediately after concrete <br /> has set sufficiently. While green, scrub with fiber brush to remove fines. Wash brushed surface with <br /> fine water spray. <br /> 3.07 CURING <br /> A. Keep moist for 3 days by covering with burlap or other suitable material. An approved curing , <br /> compound may be used immediately after finishing. <br /> 3.08 BACKFILLING <br /> A. After concrete has set sufficiently, refill spaces in front and back of curb to required elevation with <br /> suitable select material and compact. <br /> 3.09 WATERWAYS ' <br /> A. Waterways shall be constructed to lines and grades shown on the drawings. Provide 343 rebar <br /> continuous along waterway and extend 1'-6" minimum into curb and gutter section on each end. <br /> 3.10 FLARED ENDS AND DROP CURBS , <br /> A. Provide path wide drop curbs and flared ends at locations shown on drawings. See detail for <br /> installation requirements. <br /> 3.11 WIDTH OF GUTTER ' <br /> A. Provide curb having a 1'-2"wide gutter apron. Reference code of governing jurisdiction for curb and <br /> gutter shall mean 2'-6"wide high-back curb Section unless noted otherwise. <br /> 3.12 DRAINAGE TRANSITION APRONS (FROGS)AND DRIVEWAYS <br /> A. Provide aprons where indicated on drawings. <br /> 3.13 CURB ' <br /> A. Curb shall be placed according to drawings.
