Nurses who are registered as such under the laws of the <br /> State of Washington and who act under the direction and <br /> control of a duly licensed physician; <br /> G. Massage treatments that are customarily given in beauty <br /> salons and barber shops for purposes of beautification when <br /> performed by state licensed beauty operators and barbers; <br /> and <br /> H. Massage treatments given by State of Washington licensed <br /> massage practitioners in full service salons which salons <br /> primary function involves the practice of cosmetology as <br /> defined in Chapter 18.16 R.C.W. and which salons are <br /> operated by State of Washington licensed cosmetologists. <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Exemptions. <br /> The provisions of this title do not apply to: <br /> A. Persons giving massage treatments in their private <br /> residence to members of their immediate family; licensed <br /> massage practitioners giving massage treatments as part of <br /> a non-profit research program; or licensed massage <br /> practitioners giving massage treatments in a bona fide <br /> non-profit charitable private social club or a bona fide <br /> athletic club not open to the public generally; <br /> B. Athletic coaches or trainers affiliated with public or <br /> private educational institutions or athletic organizations; <br /> C. Students enrolled in schools of massage performing such <br /> practices of massage as are incidental to their course of <br /> study; <br /> D. Massage treatments given by physicians, surgeons, <br /> chiropractors, osteopaths, acupuncturists, physical <br /> therapists or naturopaths who are duly licensed or <br /> certified to practice their respective profession in the <br /> State of Washington; <br /> E. Licensed massage practitioners practicing massage under the <br /> direct supervision of physicians, surgeons, chiropractors, <br /> osteopaths, acupuncturists, physical therapists or <br /> naturopaths duly licensed by the State of Washington. <br /> Direct supervision shall mean that the massage is given on <br /> 2 <br />
