1 A. "Approved" refers to approval by the City of Everett Fire Chief <br /> 2 as a result of investigation and tests conducted by him or by reason of <br /> 3 accepted principles or tests by national authorities, technical or <br /> 4 scientific organizations. <br /> 5 B. "Area Separation Wall " shall mean a wall constructed in <br /> 6 accordance with the requirements of the UBC. <br /> 7 C. "Automatic Fire Suppression System" means an integrated system of <br /> 8 piping which is specifically engineered or hydraulically designed for the <br /> 9 application of extinguishing agents and to which the appropriate applicators <br /> 10 are connected in a systematic pattern, which conforms to the requirements of <br /> 11 the UBC. All references in this ordinance to automatic fire suppression <br /> 12 system means an "approved" automatic suppression system. <br /> 13 D. "Automatic Fire Detection System" shall mean a heat and/or smoke <br /> 14 detection system monitored by a central and/or remote station conforming to <br /> 15 the requirements of the UBC. All references in this ordinance to automatic <br /> 16 fire detection system means an "approved" automatic detection system. <br /> 17 E. "Fire Department" means City of Everett Fire Department. <br /> 18 F. "Uniform Building Code" or "UBC" means the current edition of the <br /> 19 Uniform Building Code and Uniform Building Code Standards published by the <br /> 20 International Conference of Building Officials as adopted by the State <br /> 21 Building Code Council in accordance with Chapter 19.27 RCW and as amended by <br /> 22 the City of Everett. It is also referred to in this ordinance as the "UBC". <br /> 23 F. "Uniform Fire Code or "UFC" means the current edition of the <br /> 24 Uniform Fire Code and the Uniform Fire Code Standards published by the <br /> 25 International Conference of Building Officials and the Western Fire Chiefs <br /> 26 Association adopted by the State Building Code Council in accordance with <br /> 27 Chapter 19.27 RCW and as amended by the City of Everett. It is also <br /> 28 referred to in this ordinance as the "UFC". <br /> 20 Section 3: Application. <br /> 30 A. An approved automatic fire detection system is required and shall <br /> 31 be installed and maintained in an operable condition as specified in this <br /> 32 ordinance in the following locations: <br /> 2 <br />
