'
4.6.2 East Clearwell Crack Repair
See Article 2, Existing Site and Facility Information, for photographs of cracks in East Clearwell floors.
Design-Builder shall inspect and verify the length of wall and floor crack repair required with the
Owner's Representative.
Design-Builder shall repair all interior floor and wall cracks greater than 0.01 inches wide. Repair
shall include pressure injection of the cracks with an expanding urethane grout specifically
manufactured for this purpose and that is ANSI/NSF 61 approved. Inject water into the crack before
injecting the grout per the manufacturer's recommendations.
Product options include DeNeef Hydro Active Flex LV or SikaFix HH LV, by Sika Corporation, or other
expanding urethane grout meeting ANSI/NSF 61 with approval of the Owner's Representative.
The allowance amount for crack repair is$18,032.00 for 300 feet(estimated total for East
Clearwell), which is a unit price of$60.1067 per foot of crack repair. If Design-Builder repairs less
than 300 feet, then a deductive Change Order will be issued for the allowance amount not spent,
calculated based on the unit price and the difference between 300 feet and the amount of repair
actually completed. If Design-Builder repairs more than 300 feet, then a Change Order will be issued
to increase the Contract Price, calculated based on the unit price and the amount of repair
completed in excess of 300 feet.
Based on the City's visual inspections, the City believes that these cracks do not represent a
structural integrity issue. If Design-Builder believes, based on its inspection, that any cracks may be
structural in nature, it shall promptly notify and consult with the Owner's Representative prior to
initiating any structural repair.
4.6.3 Refurbishment of Corroded Items
See Article 2, Existing Site and Facility Information, for photographs East Clearwell columns and
structural connection points. Design-Builder shall inspect and verify the condition of columns and
structural connection points, and identify any repairs needed to facilitate the Design-Builders
Acceptable Roof System installation with the Owner's Representative.
Repairs, if identified, shall include concrete and metal repair and replacement using ANSI/NSF 61
approved materials.Assume, for the purposes of estimating costs, that the top two feet of each
existing structural column will require refurbishment work.
The allowance amount for Refurbishment of Corroded Items is$68,473.00 for 21 columns, which is
a unit price of$3,260.62 per each repair location of corroded item repair. If Design-Builder repairs
fewer than 21 columns, then a deductive Change Order will be issued for the allowance amount not
spent, calculated based on the unit price and the difference between 21 columns and the amount of
repair work actually completed.
4.6.4 East Clearwell Leakage
Based on testing conducted by the City, the East Clearwell structure is leaking at a rate of
approximately 21 gpm (31,000 gal per day).
The City conducted leak testing according to Section 6.2 of AWWA standard D115-06 for tendon
stressed concrete tanks, with some modifications:
City of Everett September 13,2017
Water Filtration Plant Clearwell Roof Replacement DB Project Supplementary Conditions Page 13
