1 necessary for such safe operation. All limousines, prior to being <br /> licensed under the provisions of this ordinance shall be inspected by <br /> 2 an independent certified mechanic at the applicant's expense and <br /> approved by the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police shall have <br /> 3 authority to require that routine inspections be made from time to time <br /> as he/she deems necessary and appropriate. The Chief of Police may <br /> 4 promulgate inspection regulations which shall be filed in the office of <br /> the City Clerk. The items to be inspected shall be listed on a form to <br /> 5 be provided by the Chief of Police. Each item on said list shall be in <br /> satisfactory condition before any license may be issued or renewed <br /> 6 under the provisions of this ordinance. <br /> 7 C. No limousines shall be operated and no license may be issued or renewed <br /> under the provisions of this ordinance until said inspection has been <br /> 8 completed and approved by the Chief of Police and it has been shown to <br /> the satisfaction of the Chief of Police that all requirements of this <br /> 9 ordinance have been met. Upon satisfactory proof of compliance with <br /> all requirements of this ordinance, a license indicia in such form and <br /> 10 content as prescribed by the Chief of Police shall be permanently <br /> affixed by the owner or operator to the rear of the vehicle to serve as <br /> 11 proof of compliance with the requirements of this ordinance. Such <br /> indicia shall bear on it an identifying number from which the number of <br /> 12 the vehicle for hire as assigned by the holder will be obtained and <br /> made identical . <br /> 13 <br /> D. It is unlawful for the operator or driver of a limousine for-hire to <br /> 14 operate such vehicle without having conspicuously displayed on such <br /> vehicle the license indicia in accordance with the requirements of this <br /> 15 ordinance. <br /> 16 E. Whenever a license indicia is lost, stolen or destroyed, a new indicia <br /> may be issued upon the payment of a non-refundable replacement fee of <br /> 17 fifty dollars ($50) and the filing of an affidavit of loss. If the <br /> original license indicia is recovered, it shall be returned to the City <br /> 18 Clerk promptly. Indicia plates will be removed from all vehicles which <br /> are destroyed or permanently removed from service. If an indicia plate <br /> 19 is not removed and returned to the City Clerk within 15 days, a <br /> non-refundable fee of $50.00 will be charged to the responsible company. <br /> 20 <br /> F. Whenever a limousine is removed from service and is removed from the <br /> 21 insurance coverage as required herein, the vehicle shall be reinspected <br /> in accordance with the inspection requirements set forth in this <br /> 22 ordinance herein prior to being placed into service. <br /> 23 G. All indicia plates shall be and remain the property of the City of <br /> Everett and upon the revocation, surrender, suspension or expiration of <br /> 24 a vehicle license, or if found in the possession of any person other <br /> than to whom the license was issued, the plate shall be immediately <br /> 25 returned to the City Clerk. If not immediately returned, the City <br /> Clerk is authorized to remove and take possession of the indicia plate. <br /> 26 <br /> H. If the Chief of Police or Weights and Measurers Director determines <br /> 27 during inspection that the condition of any limousine needs correction, <br /> he may issue to the operator or driver thereof a notice in writing <br /> 28 specifying such defects and the same shall be remedied immediately or <br /> by a later date determined at the time of inspection. It is unlawful <br /> 29 to fail to comply with any written notice to make corrections on the <br /> limousine. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> 11 <br />
