• <br /> 1 C. No vehicle for hire shall be operated and no license may be issued or <br /> renewed under the provisions of this ordinance until said inspection <br /> 2 has been completed and approved by the Chief of Police and it has been <br /> shown to the satisfaction of the Chief of Police that all requirements <br /> 3 of this ordinance have been met. Upon satisfactory proof of compliance <br /> with all requirements of this ordinance, a license indicia in such form <br /> 4 and content as prescribed by the Chief of Police shall be permanently <br /> affixed by the owner or operator to the rear trunk lid of the vehicle <br /> 5 for hire to serve as proof of compliance with the requirements of this <br /> ordinance. Such indicia shall bear on it an identifying number from <br /> 6 which the number of the vehicle for hire as assigned by the holder will <br /> be obtained and made identical . <br /> 7 <br /> D. It is unlawful for the operator or driver of a taxicab or for-hire <br /> 8 vehicle to operate such vehicle without having conspicuously displayed <br /> on such vehicle the license indicia in accordance with the requirements <br /> 9 of this ordinance. <br /> 10 E. Whenever a license indicia is lost, stolen or destroyed, a new indicia <br /> may be issued upon the payment of a non-refundable replacement fee of <br /> 11 fifty dollars ($50) and the filing of an affidavit of loss. If the <br /> original license indicia is recovered, it shall be returned to the City <br /> 12 Clerk promptly. Indicia plates will be removed from all vehicles which <br /> are destroyed or permanently removed from service. If an indicia plate <br /> 13 is not removed and returned to the City Clerk within 15 days, a <br /> non-refundable fee of $50.00 will be charged to the responsible company. <br /> 14 <br /> F. Whenever a vehicle for hire is removed from service and is removed from <br /> 15 the insurance coverage as required herein, the vehicle shall be <br /> reinspected in accordance with the inspection requirements set forth in <br /> 16 this ordinance herein prior to being placed into service. <br /> 17 G. All indicia plates shall be and remain the property of the City of <br /> Everett and upon the revocation, surrender, suspension or expiration of <br /> 18 a vehicle license, or if found in the possession of any person other <br /> than to whom the license was issued, the plate shall be immediately <br /> 19 returned to the City Clerk. If not immediately returned, the City <br /> Clerk is authorized to confiscate the indicia plate. <br /> 20 <br /> H. If the Chief of Police or Weights and Measurers Director determines <br /> 21 during inspection that the condition of any for-hire vehicle needs <br /> correction, he may issue to the operator or driver thereof a notice in <br /> 22 writing specifying such defects and the same shall be remedied <br /> immediately or by a later date determined at the time of inspection. <br /> 23 It is unlawful to fail to comply with any written notice to make <br /> corrections on the for-hire vehicle. <br /> 24 <br /> I. Each taxicab must be equipped with a two-way radio dispatch system <br /> 25 capable of operating throughout the City of Everett. It is unlawful <br /> for any for-hire driver to fail to respond to a call from the <br /> 26 dispatcher to pick up a passenger when so requested or fail to keep the <br /> radio in the taxicab operating at all times the taxicab is operated. <br /> 27 <br /> Section 20: VEHICLE COLOR SCHEME - NAME OF COMPANY - NUMBER OF VEHICLE <br /> 28 - INTERIOR I.D. <br /> 29 A. All vehicles for hire shall have a uniform color scheme identifying <br /> them to the company or person under which the for-hire business license <br /> 30 is issued. Each company or person under which the for-hire business <br /> license is issued shall have a single uniform color scheme different <br /> 31 and distinct from the similarly licensed companies or persons. All <br /> vehicles for hire shall have in distinct, legible letters no smaller <br /> 32 <br /> 13 <br />
