• 1 J . "Taximeter" means any instrument or device which records and indicates 2 a fare, rate, or charge calculated according to distance traveled, and may also record and indicate a fare, rate or charge based on waiting 3 time, initial charge, and such other fares, rates, or charges as are not prohibited by the License Code or the Weights and Measures Code and 4 upon which such calculated charges shall be indicated by means of figures; 5 K. "For-Hire Vehicle" means a taxicab, sightseeing vehicle or special 6 service vehicle; L. "Sightseeing vehicle" or "charter bus" means every motor vehicle held for public hire as a common carrier, used primarily for sight seeing 8 purposes and generally over a fixed route for a stipulated consideration per trip; 9 M. "Special service vehicle" means a vehicle equipped to accommodate and 10 which is used for the transportation of developmentally disabled persons as herein defined: The term "developmentally disabled" means 11 any person who is physically or mentally disabled and who is transported by vehicle in a wheelchair. 12 N. "Taxicab" means every motor vehicle held for public hire as a common 13 carrier, usually for transportation of individuals, subject to call by the public generally and not operating over a fixed route or between 14 fixed termini ; and the fare is based on an amount recorded and indicated on a taximeter, or on a special fare rate or contracted 15 agreement as permitted by this ordinance; 16 0. "Affiliated Taxicab" means a taxicab associated with a group of taxicabs having multiple owners and operating under the same color, 17 business name, or other identification scheme, all of which must operate under an identical schedule of rates and charges; 18 P. "Independent Taxicab" means a taxicab or group of taxicabs having one 19 owner and operating under the same color, business name, or other identification scheme, and under an identical schedule of fares and 20 charges ; 21 Q• "Rate card" means a card approved by the City Clerk for display in each taxicab which contains the rates of fare established by the City 22 Council and special rates filed with the City Clerk as permitted by this ordinance; 23 R. "Contract Agreement" means a written agreement signed by both parties 24 in advance of the dispatch of a taxicab, for the service identified in the contract; 25 S.
