The applicant must successfully complete a written examination, testing the applicant's knowledge of ordinance requirements dealing with 2 ownership responsibilities and prerequisites to licensing, vehicle/equipment requirements; and 3 J . Such other information the City Clerk may require, which he/she deems 4 reasonably necessary to aid in the enforcement of this ordinance. 5 Section 6: LICENSE FEE 6 The license fees are fixed in the amounts shown in the following 7 schedule and shall be payable annually in advance: 8 For-hire vehicle business license $150 per year per company plus 9 $75 per year for each for-Fire vehicle 10 For-hire vehicle driver's license fee $30 for initial license and $15 11 per year for renewal ; in order to qualify for renewal , must have 12 been licensed for the previous year 13 14 The fees set forth in this schedule are non-refundable. 15 Section 7: FOR-HIRE BUSINESS LICENSE - ISSUANCE, RENEWAL, DENIAL, 16 SUSPENSION AND REVOCATION 17 A. It is unlawful to own or operate a for-hire vehicle, or engage in the 18 business of operating as a taxi-cab or for-hire vehicle in the City of Everett without first having obtained a license from the City Clerk 19 covering each and every vehicle so used to be known as a for-hire vehicle business license. 20 B. A license will be denied to any person if the City Clerk, after due 21 investigation, finds t� the applicant or the owner has done any of the following: 22 1 . Made any false statement on the application or omitted 23 information required on the application; 24 2. Had a conviction or bail forfeiture involving crimes pertaining to alcohol , controlled substances, prostitution, gambling, 25 physical violence, or crimes directly related to the applicant's honesty and integrity (fraud, larceny, extortion, theft, etc. ) 26 and ablility to properly operate a for-hire vehicle business, 27 within three years of the date of application; 3. Exhibited conduct within the past three years in driving, 28 operating or engaging in the business of operating any for-hire vehicle which would lead the City Clerk to reasonably conclude 29 that the applicant will not comply with ordinance requirements relating to vehicle safety and sanitation standards, insurance 30 requirements, or vehicle and driver licensing requirements; 31 4. Been refused a for-hire license or had such license revoked under 32 the provisions of this ordinance; provided, however, that any applicant denied a license under the provisions of this ordinance may reapply after one year from the denial if the basis for denial no longer exists; 5
