IFC 1030.7 Einer�enc�ape and Re�cue Openings <br /> At least one emergency escape and rescue opening mustbe installed for each sleeping <br /> room in the building, with a minimum net clear opening of 5.7 square feet, with a <br /> minimum net clear width of 20 inches, and a minimum net clear height of 24 inches, per <br /> UBC section 1204. The dimension from the bottom of the clear opening to the floor must <br /> also be shown in an interior elevation. <br /> • Emergency escape openings were required by code at the time of change of <br /> occupancy, per the 1982 Uniform Building Code (UBC). <br /> c. IFC 1103.4.2 Vertical Openings <br /> One hour fire separation partitions, tested assemblies and protected openings must be <br /> installed on shafts which interconnect more than two stories throughout the building, such <br /> that no more than two stories are interconnected in the three story structure. <br /> • NOTE: The Fire Department will accept a fully sprinklered basement, tested annually <br /> to be operational, as an alternate to the requirement for partition enclosures between <br /> three unseparated stories. <br /> d. IFC 1104.16.5.1 Fire Escape Weiqht Test/Structural Examination <br /> Fire escape stairs and balconies shall be examined for structural adequacy and safety in <br /> accordance with Section 1104.16.5 by a registered design professional or others <br /> acceptable to the fire code official. Plans and calculations for repairs or additions to the <br /> fire escape must be submitted for building permit to meet egress requirements. <br /> • In addition, the fire escape stairs must be structurally examined and weight tested now <br /> and every five years thereafter; and <br /> • An inspection report shall be submitted to the fire code offiicial after each 5 year testing <br /> and examination. <br /> h. IFC 1104.16.6 Fire Escape Stairwav Termination <br /> The lowest balcony shall not be more than 18 feet from the ground. Fire escape stairs <br /> shall extend to the ground or be provided with counterbalanced stairs reaching the <br /> ground. <br /> i. IPMC 108.1.5 (5.) and RCW 64.55 <br /> The penthouse structure and spa is not designed for the resistance of moisture <br /> penetration to the structure, and must be shown on the drawings as removed or repaired. <br /> ` <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br />
