1 Repair, Vacation and Demolition. The following standards shall be followed by the Building Official (and by the Board of Appeals if an appeal 2 is taken) in ordering the repair, vacation or demolition of any dangerous building or structure: 3 1. Any building declared a dangerous building under this ordinance 4 shall either be repaired in accordance with the current Building Code or shall be demolished at the option of the building owner. 5 2. If the building or structure is in such condition as to make it 6 immediately dangerous to the life, limb, property or safety of the public or its occupants, it shall be ordered to be vacated. 7 8 and inserting in its place: 9 403 - Standards To Be Followed. The following standards shall be 10 followed by the Building Official (the City Council if a demolition resolution and by the Board of Appeals if an appeal is taken) in ordering 11 the repair, vacation, or demolition of any dangerous building or structure: 12 1. Any building declared a dangerous building shall either be repaired in accordance with the current Building Code or shall be 13 demolished at the option of the building owner. 14 2. If the building or structure is in such condition as to make it immediately dangerous to life, limb, property or safety of the 15 public or its occupants, it shall be ordered vacated; a vacated building may be required to be secured against unauthorized entry. 16 17 E. Section 801(a) of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous 18 Buildings, 1985 Edition, is hereby amended by deleting: 19 Procedure. When any work of repair or demolition is to be done 20 pursuant to Section 701(c) 3 of this Code, the Building Official shall issue his order therefor to the Director of Public Works and the work shall be 21 accomplished by personnel of this jurisdiction or by private contract under the direction of said Director. Plans and specifications therefor may be 22 prepared by said Director, or he may employ such architectural and engineering assistance on a contract basis as he may deem reasonably 23 necessary. If any part of the work is to be accomplished by private contract, standard public works contractual procedures shall be followed. 24 25 and inserting in its place: 26 Procedure. When any work of repair, securing or demolition is to be 27 done pursuant to Section 701(e) 3 of this Code, the Building Official shall order the work to be accomplished by the City personnel or by private 28 contract under the direction of said Building Official. Plans and specifi- cations therefor may be prepared by said Building Official or he may 29 employ such architectural and engineering assistance on a contract basis as he may deem reasonably necessary. 30 31 32 3
