• <br /> 1 In wholesale and retail sales rooms classed as Group B, Division of <br /> Occupancies, in Group E, Division 1, 2, and 3, Occupancies, and in <br /> 2 Group B, Division 1, Occupancies, where the floor area exceeds 6,000 <br /> square feet on any floor or 12,000 square feet on all floors; however, the <br /> 3 area and height increases specified in Section 506(c) and 507 shall be <br /> permitted. The area of mezzanines shall be included in determining the <br /> 4 areas where sprinklers are required. <br /> 5 <br /> G. Section 3313(b) of the 1985 Edition of the UBC is hereby amended by <br /> 6 <br /> deleting: <br /> 7 <br /> 8 (b) Power Supply. 1. Separate branch circuits. The power supply for <br /> exit illumination shall be provided by two separate branch circuits of the <br /> 9 normal premises wiring system, unless an emergency system is installed, <br /> where the occupant load served by the exiting system exceeds the <br /> 10 following: <br /> 11 A. One hundred in both Group H Occupancies and in Group R, Division <br /> 1 Occupancies. <br /> 12 <br /> B. Fifty in Group I Occupancies. <br /> 13 <br /> C. Three hundred in all other occupancies. <br /> 14 <br /> One of the required circuits shall supply only fixtures used for exit <br /> 15 illumination or exit signs. The other circuit may supply current to other <br /> outlets. <br /> 16 <br /> 2. Separate sources of power. The power supply for exit illumination <br /> 17 shall normally be provided by the premises wiring system. In the event of <br /> its failure, illumination shall be automatically provided from an <br /> 18 emergency system where the occupant load served by the exiting system <br /> exceeds: <br /> 19 <br /> A. Nine hundred and ninety-one in Group A, Division 1 Occupancies; <br /> 20 <br /> B. Five hundred in Group A, Division 2 or 2.1 Occupancies except <br /> 21 churches with an occupant load of less than 750. <br /> 22 C. One hundred in Group I Occupancies. <br /> 23 D. One hundred in Group R, Division 1 Occupancies having an interior <br /> exit corridor system. <br /> 24 <br /> E. Five hundred in Group B, Division 2 Occupancies used for retail <br /> 25 sales or offices. <br /> 26 For high-rise buildings, see Section 1807. For smokeproof enclosures see <br /> Section 3310(g)9. <br /> 27 <br /> Emergency systems shall be supplied from storage batteries or an on-site <br /> 28 generator set and the system shall be installed in accordance with the <br /> requirements of the Electrical Code. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 and inserting in its place: <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> 5 <br />
