• <br /> • <br /> • <br /> 1 incurred in connection with the work, plus administrative and supervisory <br /> 2 cost computed at the current applicable rate as established by Council <br /> 3 ordinance or resolution. <br /> 4 Section 17: Water Service Ownership and Maintenance. <br /> 5 The Utilities Division only shall install, own, maintain and operate <br /> 6 the water service connection from the main to and including the service cock <br /> 7 or meter. In cases where a meter may be located a considerable distance <br /> 8 from the main for customer or service convenience, the customer shall <br /> 9 maintain the service pipe for the entire distance from the normally <br /> 10 designated location of the service cock or meter to the point of ultimate <br /> 11 water usage or consumption. <br /> 12 Section 18: Installation of Service Pipe. <br /> 13 A. The owner or his authorized agent shall first install, or cause to have <br /> installed, the water service pipe extending from a point within the <br /> 14 property to be served to the location of the service cock or meter in <br /> the public street, utility easement or right-of-way. The Utilities <br /> 15 Division shall then install the water service connection between the <br /> main and the end of the customer's previously installed service pipe <br /> 16 and turn on the water; provided, that the service line and plumbing on <br /> the customer's side of the service cock or meter shall have been <br /> 17 installed in conformity with this ordinance and other applicable <br /> ordinances, rules and regulations of the City. <br /> 18 <br /> B. A water service connection shall be installed only where a building, <br /> 19 structure, or building materials are located on the premises to be <br /> served except in an extraordinary circumstance. The exception must <br /> 20 first be approved by the Utilities Superintendent before it will be <br /> allowed. <br /> 21 <br /> Section 19: Location of Service Cock or Meter and Piping. <br /> 22 <br /> A. Designation. The location of the service cock or meter for each <br /> 23 service connection shall be designated by the Utilities Division and <br /> the customer requesting a service connection shall install his water <br /> 24 service pipe to the designated point before the Utilities Division will <br /> make the connection thereto. <br /> 25 <br /> B. Connection Limited to Premises. A service connection for a given <br /> 26 premises shall be installed on the same lot or parcel which is <br /> 27 occupied, wholly or in part, by the building or structure served. <br /> Service pipes, either temporary or permanent, shall not be extended to <br /> buildings or structures on other lots or parcels. No person nor <br /> 28 customer receiving water from the water system shall be permitted to <br /> 29 supply water to any other premises at any time except with the full <br /> knowledge and prior approval of the Utilities Division. <br /> 30 C. Extension Across Streets or Alleys. Service pipes shall not be <br /> installed nor extended across streets or alleys by customers unless <br /> 31 specifically approved by the Utilities Division prior to such <br /> 32 installation and unless a permit is obtained by the customer from the <br /> Public Works Department. <br /> 7 <br />
