The City shall in no manner be obligated to provide or continue water <br /> 2 service to any premises or customer which fails or refuses to comply <br /> with Superintendent's requirements or regulations pertaining to a <br /> 3 cross-connection, by-pass or any other reasonable requirement or <br /> regulation. <br /> 4 <br /> Section 48: Fire Services--Ownership and Costs. <br /> 5 <br /> All fire service connections shall be installed by and remain the <br /> 6 <br /> property of the Utilities Division unless otherwise authorized by the <br /> 7 Utilities Superintendent. The Utilities Division shall own, operate and <br /> 8 <br /> maintain the fire service from and including the connection to the main to <br /> 9 <br /> and including the fire service meter or detecter check meter and vault. A <br /> 10 <br /> valve may be provided downstream of the meter for the customer to use as a <br /> 11 <br /> shut-off. The expense for all labor, materials and equipment rental <br /> 12 <br /> required for tapping mains, making connections, placing valves, meters or <br /> 13 <br /> any other protective device deemed necessary by the Utilities Superintendent <br /> 14 <br /> to prevent the unauthorized use of water, including the testing of completed <br /> 15 <br /> work, shall be paid by the customer. <br /> 16 <br /> Section 49: Fire Service Meter. <br /> 17 <br /> Fire service connections shall be supplied only through an approved <br /> 18 <br /> fire service meter or a detector check meter. In the case of premises for <br /> 19 <br /> which both fire protection service and other water service for such uses as <br /> 20 <br /> domestic, commercial, industrial or manufacturing purposes is supplied, <br /> 21 <br /> there may be two service installations made to the premises, one for fire <br /> 22 <br /> service only and one for other water service. These service connection <br /> 23 <br /> functions may also be combined in a single service connection with the <br /> 24 <br /> approval of the Utilities Superintendent. <br /> 25 <br /> Section 50: Fire Service and Second Service Charges. <br /> 26 <br /> In the event two separate service connections are installed, the fire <br /> 27 <br /> protection system so served shall consist of an automatic sprinkler system <br /> 28 <br /> only without interconnection to the other water service and without <br /> 29 <br /> additional outlets which could normally be used for other than fire <br /> 30 <br /> suppression purposes. Water used through the fire service for fire <br /> 31 <br /> suppression purposes and limited testing of the system will normally be <br /> 32 <br /> 18 <br />
