PART 2 PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 GENERAL <br /> A. Materials and equipment shall be safe and in good condition and shall conform to local, state <br /> and federal codes. <br /> PART 3 EXECUTION <br /> 3.1 GENERAL <br /> ' A. Provide sheeting, shoring and other protection and support systems wherever required, in <br /> accordance with current local, state and federal laws,codes and ordinances. <br /> B. The Contractor is solely responsible for excavation protection and worker safety. <br /> C. The Contractor shall be solely responsible for the protection of existing utilities and <br /> structures. Under no circumstance shall work threaten the integrity (physical and operational) <br /> of these utilities and/or structures. <br /> 3.2 EXCAVATION SUPPORT SYSTEMS <br /> A. The excavation support systems shall not disturb the state of soil adjacent to the trench or <br /> excavation and below the excavation bottom. <br /> ' B. Water control measures shall be provided at all times in accordance with the requirements <br /> specified in Section 31 23 19,Dewatering. <br /> ' C. The support system shall extend below the main excavation bottom elevation to a depth <br /> adequate to prevent hydrostatic uplift, seepage and piping, and lateral movement and to <br /> adequately support applied vertical loads. <br /> D. Damage to existing utilities or structures during installation of excavation support system <br />• <br /> shall be avoided. If damage occurs it shall be repaired at no cost to the Owner and to the <br /> ' satisfaction of the utility owner. <br /> E. A company representative from the excavation support system shall be onsite during initial <br /> ' setup of the system. Install excavation support system in strict conformance with the <br /> representative's recommendations. <br /> ' 3.3 CONTINGENCY PLAN IMPLEMENTATION <br /> A. Excess movements or settlements: Work shall be stopped immediately and the causes of <br /> ' excess or detrimental movements evaluated if: <br /> 1. Damage is noted to existing site features or surrounding properties. <br /> 2. Shoring wall movements exceed the limits specified herein or per submitted calculations. <br /> B.
