• a <br /> 1 another examination may be administered with the resultant <br /> eligible names added onto the current list , with those from the <br /> 2 prior examination remaining at the top of the composite list <br /> until the time during which they are valid expires. Anyone on <br /> 3 an eligibility list who declines an appointment shall be <br /> removed from the list , subject to the discretion of the <br /> 4 Personnel Officer. <br /> 5 Acceptance of a temporary or acting appointment to any position <br /> shall not cause an eligible to lose his standing on an <br /> 6 eligiblity list. <br /> Section 6 : Examination. The examination process for <br /> 7 <br /> employment with the City of Everett must be practical, <br /> 8 impartial and must satisfactorily measure the applicant ' s <br /> ability and fitness to fill the position for which a particular <br /> 9 examination is given. <br /> 10 Section 7 : Recruitment and Applications. Public <br /> announcements for all examinations shall be conspicuously <br /> 11 posted in the City Hall two weeks prior to the final filing <br /> date for open and competitive examinations and four weeks prior <br /> 12 for promotional examinations. Announcements may be posted <br /> elsewhere and copies shall be mailed to interested applicants <br /> 13 and to each labor organization recognized by the City . Other <br /> appropriate forms of public notice may be used to attract <br /> 14 qualified applicants. <br /> 15 The Personnel Officer has the authority to establish recruiting <br /> procedures and techniques that in his judgment will result in <br /> 16 the most successful recruitment possible. <br /> 17 Announcements for examinations shall include not less than : <br /> 18 1 . The class title <br /> 19 2. A statement of duties, qualifications, <br /> responsibilities and salary range. <br /> 20 3. The place for filing and the final filing date <br /> 21 4. Such other information as will help the applicants <br /> 22 understand the nature of employment and the procedures <br /> for participating in the examination. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Section 8: Classification Plan. The Classification Plan <br /> shall serve as a complete inventory of all positions in the <br /> 25 City service including an acurate description and <br /> specifications for each class of employment. <br /> 26 Section 9: Conditions of Employment. No employee shall <br /> participate in any outside business activity or employment <br /> 27 which conflicts with or detracts from the employee ' s job <br /> performance. <br /> 28 <br /> All new employees shall be subject to a nine (9) month <br /> 29 probationary period. All promotional employees shall be <br /> subject to a six (6) month probationary period. A new <br /> 30 probationary employee may be terminated with no right of <br /> appeal. A promotional probationary employee may be reduced in <br /> 31 rank to his last held permanent positions with no right of <br /> 32 appeal. No officer or employee of the City shall solicit or <br />
