3. The accessible parking space and curb cut should be shown on the drawings and dimensioned relative <br /> to the accessible building entrance. <br /> ./4. Contour lines, sidewalk widths, doors and ramps should be shown on the drawings and detailed, along <br /> the accessible route to the main entrance from the new accessible parking area. <br /> 5. New walls should be targeted to wall sections, indicating the height of the wall and the relationship to <br /> ceiling and underside of structure. <br /> 6. Please indicate exit signage and emergency illumination on the reflected ceiling plans, per IBC sections <br /> 1006.3 and 1011.1. <br /> 7. Braille exit signage should be indicated on the plans per IBC section 1011.4. <br /> 8. Pull side dimension of new door (112) should be shown on the drawings as 18 inches, per ICC/ANSI <br /> A117.1-2009 figure 402.3.2 (a). <br /> 9. Hardware should be shown on the door schedule to operate without tight twisting or grasping requiring <br /> use of the wrist, per IBC section 1008.1.9.1. <br /> 10. Door lites should be shown on the drawings to comply with the heights listed in ICC/ANSI A117.1-2009 <br /> section 404.2.10. <br /> Accessibility <br /> 1. IBC sections 1106.1 and 1106.5 require a van accessible parking space where 1 to 25 parking spaces <br /> are provided. <br /> a. A facility that is altered should comply with applicable sections of requirements for new <br /> construction, unless technically infeasible, per IBC section 3411.6. The parking lot striping is <br /> being altered. <br /> b. Where an alteration affects the accessibility to a primary function, the route to the primary <br /> function area should be accessible, per IBC section 3411.7. <br /> i. The cost of providing the accessible route is not required to exceed 20 percent of the <br /> costs of the alterations affecting the area of primary function. <br /> c. The van accessible space is required to be a total of sixteen feet, with an access aisle of either <br /> 5 or 8 feet, per ICC/A117.1-2003 section 502.2. <br /> d. Please note that the words ADA on the parking spaces reference a law, but not a requirement <br /> of the building code. <br /> 2. Parking signage should be shown on the drawings to comply with IBC section 1110.1 and ICC A117.1- <br /> 2003 section 502.7. The minimum height to the underside of the sign is 5'-0"above adjacent grade. <br /> Upon resubmittal of the drawings, your application will be given priority and plan review will recommence. <br /> Applicable codes include the 2012 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2012 International Fire Code <br /> (IFC), as amended by the State of Washington and adopted by the City of Everett.
