Project: Sewer Regulators R4 & R39 Modifications
Change Order No.1
Change Order Effective Date: February 26, 2018
Bid Item#12—Type 1 Manhole,60-inch Diameter. Delete one Type 1 Manhole, 60-inch Diameter
in the amount of$19,536.95 per each, resulting in a($19,536.95) contract price decrease.
Bid Item #24—Temporary Sewer Flow Bypassing at R4 site. Delete this lump sum bid item from
the contract in the amount of$59,266.41, resulting in a ($59,266.41)contract price decrease.
Bid Item #26—Gravel Borrow. Modify existing bid item#26 entitled"Gravel Borrow", by adding
1,100.00 tons of gravel borrow at the unit price of$41.95/ton, resulting in a $46,145.00 contract price
increase.
Bid Item #29—Landscaping & Irrigation Restoration @ R4 Site. Delete this lump sum bid item
from the contract in the amount of$15,635.79, resulting in a($15,635.79) contract price decrease.
Bid Item #35—Force Account. The original dollar amount allotted for this bid item was $75,000.00,
to be used at the discretion of the Engineer. This change order is written to increase this $75,000.00,
by an additional $30,000.00 to a dollar value of$105,000.00.
The net result of adding four(4) new items and making modifications to seven (7) existing bid items of
the contract, results in a contract price increase of$60,149.47
JUSTIFICATION:
Bid Item#7—Removal of Structures and Obstructions
Bid Item#9—Sheeting, Shoring,Bracing and Noise Wall Protection at R4 Site
Bid Item #12—Type 1 Manhole,60-inch Diameter
Bid Item#24—Temporary Sewer Flow Bypassing at R4 site
Item#37 -Removal of Structures and Obstructions Revised
Item #38—Revised Sheeting, Shoring, Bracing and Noise Wall Protection at R4 Site
Item#39—Revised Temporary Sewer Flow Bypassing at R4 site
The justification for the above four(4) existing bid items and three (3) new items involves the
following change made to the Contract.
The contract plan sheet No. 10 called for the installation of a new 60-inch diameter Type 1 manhole,
(called out as MH#3), to be installed just east of the existing regulator structure at the R4 site. The
existing regulator structure was, per Contract, to be completely removed and have a new section of 48-
inch diameter pipe installed in that location. Inspection of the existing regulator structure revealed that
it was structurally sound and there was no need to remove it completely. The base of the existing
regulator structure was left intact and sections of the new 60-inch diameter Type 1, manhole #3 were
shifted to the west and installed onto the top of the base of the regulator structure. As a result of this
design change the lump sum costs for bid items #7, #9 and#24 were modified and therefore required
these three existing items to be deleted by change order#1 and new lump sum items#37, #38 and#39
added to the Contract to reflect the new modified reduced costs agreed upon on these lump sum costs.
This design change also eliminated the need for new MH #3 and thus bid item#12 is being deleted by
change order#1.
