• <br /> 1 "A. Service pipe material. Type "K" copper or ultra-high molecular <br /> weight high density iron pipe size polyethylene or polybutylene, <br /> 2 approved by the National Sanitation Foundation and meeting all <br /> applicable standards of ASTM and IAPMO only, shall be the service <br /> 3 pipe material used between the main and the service cock or <br /> meter, for three-fourth-inch and one-inch services and type "K" <br /> 4 copper or ultra-high molecular weight high density copper tube <br /> size polyethylene or polybutylene, approved by the National <br /> 5 Sanitation Foundation and meeting all applicable standards of <br /> ASTM and IAPMO only shall be the service pipe material used <br /> 6 between the main and the service cock or meter, for two-inch <br /> service connections. Ductile iron pipe only shall be used for <br /> 7 service pipe material between the main and the meter for services <br /> larger than two-inches in diameter except for those installations <br /> 8 approved by the Water Superintendent. The service pipe material <br /> on the customer's side of the service cock or meter may be any <br /> 9 material permitted in the plumbing code of the City." <br /> 10 <br /> Section 4: Section 21 of Ordinance No. 4085 (EMC 14.16.240) which reads as <br /> 11 <br /> follows: <br /> 12 <br /> 13 "Water service to a premises will be turned on only if the customer is <br /> present to ascertain that no damage results from leaking or burst pipes or <br /> 14 fixtures within the premises when the turn-on is made." <br /> 15 <br /> shall be amended to read hereafter as follows: <br /> 16 <br /> 17 "Water service to a premises will be turned on only if the customer is <br /> present to ascertain that no damage results from leaking or burst pipes or <br /> 18 fixtures within the premises when the turn-on is made, or when written <br /> approval by the owner is submitted to the City Utility Billing <br /> 19 Department." <br /> 20 <br /> Section 5: Section 3 of Ordinance No. 31-69 (EMC 14.16.310) which reads as <br /> 21 <br /> follows: <br /> 22 <br /> 23 "Any service connection which shall have been inactive, unused or <br /> abandoned for a period of five years or the house removed from the lot <br /> 24 for at least twelve months shall be considered a dormant service and shall <br /> be removed from the main by the Water Department. If a service <br /> 25 connection is subsequently desired for all or a portion of the premises or <br /> property previously supplied by a dormant service, the owner of the <br /> 26 premises or property or his authorized agent shall made application and <br /> pay for a new service connection in the manner prescribed herein and <br /> 27 without any credit whatsoever for the dormant service." <br /> 28 <br /> shall be amended to read hereafter as follows: <br /> 29 <br /> 30 "Any service connection which shall have been inactive, unused or <br /> abandoned for a period of five years or the house removed from the lot <br /> 31 <br /> 32 -3 <br />
