• •
1 80-12 PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS.
2 (a) Permits Required. No person, firm or corporation shall install,
alter, replace or extend any electrical work or equipment except
3 replacement of kind or as provided for in "Work Started Without a
Permit" without first obtaining a separate electrical permit for
4 each installation, alteration, replacement or extension from the
Building Official.
5
(b) Application. To obtain a permit the applicant shall first file an
6 application therefor in writing on a form furnished for that
purpose. Every such application shall:
7
1. Identify and describe the work to be covered by the permit
8 for which application is made;
9 2. Describe the land on which the proposed work is to be done,
by house and street address;
10
3. Indicate the use or occupancy for which the proposed work
11 is intended;
12 4. Be accompanied by plans and specifications as required in
Subsection (d) of this section.
13
5. State the valuation of the proposed work;
14
6. Be signed by the permittee;
15
7. Give such other information as reasonably may be required
16 by the Building Official.
17 (c) To Whom Permits May Be Issued. A permit may be issued to
contractors licensed to do electrical installation as is provided in
18 RCW 19.28.
19 (d) Plans and Specifications. With each application for a permit, and
when required by the Building Official for enforcement of any
20 provisions of this Code, two sets of plans, service diagrams,
specifications, and other information deemed necessary by the
21 Building Official, shall be submitted. The Building Official may
require plans and specifications to be prepared and designed by an
22 electrical engineer or electrical contractor licensed by the State to
practice as such. The plans shall be drawn upon substantial paper
23 or cloth and shall be of sufficient clarity to indicate the nature and
extent of the work proposed and show in detail that it will conform
24 to the provisions of this ordinance and all other relevant laws,
ordinances, rules and regulations.
25
(e) Plan Checking. The application, plans and specifications filed by
26 the applicant for a permit shall be checked by the Building
Official. If the Building Official is satisfied that the work
27 described in an application for a permit and the plans filed
therewith conform to the requirements of this ordinance and other
28 pertinent laws and ordinances and that the required fee has been
paid, he may issue a permit therefor to the applicant.
29
(f) Validity. The issuance or granting of a permit or approval of
30 plans and specifications shall not be construed to be a permit for,
or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of the
31 ordinance. No permit presuming to give authority to violate or
cancel the provisions of this ordinance shall be valid, except
32 insofar as the work for which it authorizes is lawful.
-3-
