1 The City Clerk may revoke any license issued under authority of this chapter <br /> 2 upon proof that a driver has violated this section. Such revocation shall be in addition <br /> 3 to any other penalty herein provided. <br /> 4 Section 25: LOADING AND DISCHARGING PASSENGERS. Drivers of <br /> 5 for-hire vehicles shall not receive or discharge passengers in the roadway, but shall pull <br /> 6 up to the right-hand sidewalk as nearly as possible or in the absence of a sidewalk, to <br /> 7 the extreme right-hand side of the road and there receive or discharge passengers, <br /> 8 except upon one-way streets where passengers may be discharged at either the right or <br /> 9 left-hand sidewalk, or the side of the roadway in the absence of a sidewalk. <br /> 10 Section 26: SERVICE REQUIREMENTS. All persons engaged in the vehicle <br /> 11 for hire business in the City operating under the provisions of this chapter shall render <br /> 12 an overall service to the public desiring to use their specified vehicle for hire be it a <br /> 13 taxicab or limousine as the case may be. Holder of licenses shall maintain a place of <br /> 14 business and keep the same open for twenty-four hours a day for the purpose of <br /> 15 receiving calls and dispatching vehicles. They shall answer all calls received by them <br /> 16 for services inside the corporate limits of the City as soon as they can do so and if said <br /> 17 services cannot be rendered within a reasonable time, they shall then notify the <br /> 18 prospective passengers how long it will be before the said call can be answered and give <br /> 19 the reason therefor. <br /> 20 Section 27: TAXICAB STANDS. The City Council may by resolution or <br /> 21 ordinance upon the recommendation of the City's Traffic Engineer establish taxicab <br /> 22 stands within the City. The areas so established by the City Council as taxicab stands <br /> 23 shall be identified, and the hours and times said areas may be occupied by for-hire <br /> 24 vehicles shall be specified in the ordinance or resolution establishing such areas. <br /> 25 The fee for the right to use said taxicab stands shall be charged in accordance <br /> 26 with Section 7 of this ordinance. <br /> 27 Section 28: PARKING. It shall be unlawful to park or leave any for-hire <br /> 28 vehicle on any public street within the City, except at a stand or parking area <br /> 29 designated or approved for the use of for-hire vehicles. Whenever any taxicab is parked <br /> 30 or left standing within any stand or parking area designated or approved for the use of <br /> 31 <br /> 32 -12- <br />
