• <br /> 1 which is not directly based, measured and computed upon the record on the reading face <br /> 2 of the taximeter used on such taxicab or taxicabs. <br /> 3 B. No license shall be issued for a taxicab until the taximeter attached <br /> 4 thereto shall have been inspected and found to be no more than five percent incorrect. <br /> 5 The Director of Weights and Measures or his designee shall inspect all taximeters prior <br /> 6 to the issuance or renewal of a license for a taxicab and shall have the right to inspect <br /> 7 them at any other time. <br /> 8 C. No taximeter shall be used unless the same carries thereon an unbroken <br /> 9 seal affixed thereto by the Director of Weights and Measures or his designee. No <br /> 10 person shall use or permit to be used or drive for hire a taxicab equipped with a <br /> 11 taximeter the case of which is unsealed and not having its cover and gear intact. <br /> 12 D. After sundown, the face of every taximeter shall be illuminated by a <br /> 13 suitable light so arranged as to throw a continuous steady light thereon and readily <br /> 14 discernible by passengers. <br /> 15 Each taximeter shall be so located in the taxicab that the meter and the fare <br /> 16 shown thereon are clearly visible from the rear compartment of the taxicab. <br /> 17 E. It shall be unlawful for any person owning, operating or driving a taxicab <br /> 18 to operate or drive such taxicab unless such taximeter is used in determining the fare to <br /> 19 be charged, and no other or different fare shall be charged to the passenger than is <br /> 20 recorded on the reading face of said taximeter for the trip. No other rates or methods <br /> 21 of measuring the distance or time charged shall be allowed, except as herein provided. <br /> 22 F. It shall be unlawful to change the size of the wheels or tires of any <br /> 23 taxicab or the gears operating the taximeter or to change the taximeter from one <br /> 24 taxicab to another unless such taximeter is reinspected and approved by the Director of <br /> 25 Weights and Measures or his designee before it is used. <br /> 26 G. Each taxicab company shall have six months from the effective date of <br /> 27 this ordinance to comply with the requirements of this section. <br /> 28 Section 19: TAXICAB RATES. No person owning, operating, or controlling <br /> 29 any for-hire vehicle within the limits of the City shall charge neither more nor less <br /> 30 than the following rates: <br /> 31 <br /> 32 -9- <br />
