Everett City Council August 6, 2018
2930 Wetmore Avenue, Suit 9A
Everett, WA
Dear Everett City Council Members:
You do not have an easy job, trying to keep downtown Everett safe and vibrant in
these troubled times of rampant drug addiction and its side effects. Seattle is
struggling even harder with the addicted and homeless populations. But the answer
for Everett is decidedly not to increase the number of rehab and treatment facilities
in downtown Everett
You can help Everett by moving some of our social services and drug rehab
businesses out of the city's core, and into surrounding areas. Everett was once the
popular place to live in Snohomish County for most of this city's history. Now, with
so many non-owner occupied houses, and the highest percentage of street people in
our County, Everett is not a place where people want to live. Check out where your
City of Everett employees live: Fewer than half of them live in Everett.
Everett needs help in so many ways to keep it safe and vibrant The best way to keep
the Downtown Metro Plan from being occupied by the addicts and the homeless - to
the detriment of business owners and the entire community - is to keep more social
services and drug rehab businesses out of the Downtown Metro area.
Howie Bargreen
Bargreen Coffee Company
2821 Rucker Avenue
Everett, WA 98201
hbargreen@aol.com
425-760-9336 (cell)
