2. Protection of existing trees by chemical treatment <br /> of insect infestation and disease. <br /> 3 . Replacement of existing trees having undesirable <br /> growth or location, or chronic infestations of, <br /> insect pests or disease . <br /> 4 . Planning and planting of trees for future benefit <br /> of the citizens of Everett. <br /> 5 . Approval of all plantings of trees by others on <br /> public property. <br /> 6. Approval of all work done by others on trees on <br /> public property. <br /> B. Work Done by Others <br /> 1. All work done to trees on public property by any <br /> agency, public or private, shall first be authorized <br /> by a permit issued by the Director, upon satisfactory <br /> compliance with the following criteria : <br /> a . Selection of trees to be planted shall be in <br /> accordance with the City of Everett' s approved <br /> list of desirable species. <br /> b. Location of trees to be planted shall be approved <br /> on site by the Director after receipt of drawings <br /> showing existing utilities and structures and <br /> their proximity to proposed planting locations <br /> and recommendation by the Traffic Engineer on effect <br /> of the proposed plantings on sight distance, fixed <br /> object hazard, street lighting effectiveness and <br /> other traffic hazards. Permits shall only be <br /> approved for planting locations which do not <br /> adversely affect any of these items . Permits shall <br /> be obtained from and submitted to the City of <br /> Everett Building Department. <br /> c. Pruning or trimming works shall be approved on <br /> site by the Director. <br /> d. All work shall be done according to accepted arbori- <br /> cultural practices and shall be subject to <br /> inspection by the Director. <br /> e. Permit shall be issued for a defined period of <br /> time, and if work is not completed within that <br /> time, application must be re-submitted. <br /> f . Permit shall require the applicant to hold and <br /> save the city harmless from any and all damage <br /> or injury which might arise as either the direct <br /> or indirect result of the applicant' s activities on <br /> public property during the duration of the permit. <br /> 2 - <br />
