PARK POLICY GOVERNING TREES ON PUBLIC LAND .
Page -3-
• 2.4 TREE/MATERIAL SELECTION
I. Pest and disease resistance are of primary importance in selection of
trees, for economic costs of pest and disease control are growing every
day. Protection from excessive future maintenance costs through
careful planning and selection of species is an overriding goal of the
EPRD.
2. Selection of proposed species to be planted within and existing planting
or street program must be compatible in growth, size and pest
resistance/susceptibility and appearance with the existing species.
3. The basis for size in relation to proposed location will come from the
EPRD approved tree species lists. Exceptions are considered on a
case-by-case basis.
2.5 AMENDMENT OF POLICY
I. Upon need by the Park Board, the City Administration, the City
Council, the EPRD, or a private citizen, this policy will be open to
amendment.
•
Adopted by Parks & Recreation Board
November 2.7, 1979
