PARK POLICY GOVERNING TREES ON PUBLIC LAND . <br /> Page -3- <br /> • 2.4 TREE/MATERIAL SELECTION <br /> I. Pest and disease resistance are of primary importance in selection of <br /> trees, for economic costs of pest and disease control are growing every <br /> day. Protection from excessive future maintenance costs through <br /> careful planning and selection of species is an overriding goal of the <br /> EPRD. <br /> 2. Selection of proposed species to be planted within and existing planting <br /> or street program must be compatible in growth, size and pest <br /> resistance/susceptibility and appearance with the existing species. <br /> 3. The basis for size in relation to proposed location will come from the <br /> EPRD approved tree species lists. Exceptions are considered on a <br /> case-by-case basis. <br /> 2.5 AMENDMENT OF POLICY <br /> I. Upon need by the Park Board, the City Administration, the City <br /> Council, the EPRD, or a private citizen, this policy will be open to <br /> amendment. <br /> • <br /> Adopted by Parks & Recreation Board <br /> November 2.7, 1979 <br />
