1 F. PRIVATE DETECTIVE means any person engaged in the private detective <br /> 2 business, as that term is hereinafter defined, including employees of a private detective <br /> 3 agency. <br /> 4 G. PRIVATE DETECTIVE AGENCY means any person, firm or corporation <br /> 5 engaged in the private detective business, as that term is hereinafter defined, <br /> 6 employing one or more persons as employees, assistants, clerks or operatives. <br /> 7 H. PRIVATE DETECTIVE BUSINESS means the business of or the <br /> 8 representation of being engaged in the business of making an investigation or <br /> 9 investigations for hire or reward, covering or revealing crime or criminals, or securing <br /> 10 secret information or evidence relating thereto; the habits, conduct, movements <br /> 11 whereabouts, associates, reputations, character or actions of any persons, firms or <br /> 12 corporations; the location or recovery of lost or stolen property; the causes, origin or <br /> 13 responsibility for fires, accidents, and injuries to real or personal property; the securing <br /> 14 of evidence to be used before authorized investigating committees, boards or in the <br /> 15 trial of civil or criminal cases. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Section 2: LICENSE REQUIRED <br /> 18 It is unlawful for any person, corporation, association, partnership or any other <br /> 19 organization of any kind to act as or carry on the occupation of merchant patrolman <br /> 20 (security guard) or merchant patrol agency, or private detective or private detective <br /> 21 agency within the limits of the City without first having made the application therefor <br /> 22 to the City Clerk and approved by the Chief of Police or his designee pursuant to a <br /> 23 security clearance and issued a license from the City Clerk for the carrying on of the <br /> 24 occupation or acting as a merchant patrolman (security guard), merchant patrol agency <br /> 25 or private detective or privte detective agency. This shall not be intended to preclude <br /> 26 the City Clerk from issuing a conditional license. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Section 3: EMPLOYING UNLICENSED PERSON UNLAWFUL <br /> 29 It is unlawful for any person, corporation, association or other organization of <br /> 30 any kind to employ or cause to be employed any merchant patrolman (security guard) or <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br /> -2- <br />
