Planning and budgeting so that each in-service pumper <br /> 2 within the City is equipped as an emergency aid vehicle, in addition to <br /> 3 necessary fire suppression equipment, as required by this ordinance and as <br /> 4 recommended by the Emergency Services Advisory Committee. <br /> 5 3. Developing a response pattern within the City which <br /> 6 maximizes the use of the two Emergency Aid Cars and minimizes initial <br /> 7 response time in a coordinated manner using the EAC vehicles and the fire <br /> 8 pumpers. <br /> 9 4. The EAC vehicles and the fire pumpers shall be utilized to <br /> 10 provide emergency medical care at the scene of injury or illness, and may <br /> 11 provide transportation of the sick and injured as outlined in Section 13 (B) <br /> 12 (5). <br /> 13 5. The EAC may transport sick and injured when: <br /> 14 a. In the judgment of the officer in charge, he <br /> 15 determines transport must be immediate in a life support <br /> 16 situation and the ambulance is unavailable within a <br /> 17 reasonable time. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Section 14: Ambulance Contract. <br /> 20 A. The City Council recognizes that this ordinance places additional <br /> 21 responsibilities on any ambulance company operating within the City to comply with all <br /> 22 the requirements of this ordinance. The License Officer, or his designee, shall annually <br /> 23 negotiate an agreement with one or more ambulance company to cover the ambulance <br /> 24 company for the following expenses: <br /> 25 1. The transportation of all persons, where transportation was <br /> 26 specifically requested by an employee or officer of the City of Everett, <br /> 27 and where the bill is uncollectable. <br /> 28 2. The additional costs incurred by the ambulance company <br /> 29 which are specifically related to the Alert System and for which the <br /> 30 ambulance company is not otherwise reimbursed. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 -11- <br />
