a ' 1 a separate construction permit for each such building or structure from the Building Official, except that one permit may be issued for two or 2 more buildings that are all located on one described parcel of land: separate job record cards shall be issued for each building. 3 Section 13. That Section 302 (d) of the Uniform Building Code be, and is hereby 4 amended by deleting: 5 SEC. 302 (d) EXPIRATION. Every permit issued by the Building Official 6 under the provisions of this Code shall expire by limitation and become null and void, if the building or work authorized by such permit is not 7 commenced within 120 days from the date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at 8 any time after the work is commenced for a period of 120 days. Before such work can be recommenced a new permit shall be first obtained and 9 the fee therefore shall be one-half the amount required for a new permit for such work, provided no changes have been made or will be made in the 10 original plans and specifications for such work; and provided, further, that such suspension or abandoment has not exceeded one year. 11 and inserting in its place: 12 SEC. 302 (d) EXPIRATION. Permits and renewed permits shall expire one 13 (1) year from date of issue except as otherwise specified. Where conditions require, the Building Official may, as he deems necessary, issue 14 non-renewable permits which shall expire within a period less than one (1) year from date of issue. Permits may be renewed and renewed permits 15 may be further renewed by the Building Official upon application within the thirty (30) day period immediately preceding the date of expiration 16 thereof, provided that the work permitted has been started and is progressing at a rate approved by the Building Official. Permits may also 17 be renewed where commencement or completion of the work is delayed by litigation, appeals, strikes or other causes beyond the permittee's control. 18 Progress justifying renewal of a permit where the work has been started, shall include but not be limited to the arranging of financing, preparation 19 of environmental assessments, preparation of plans and specifications, selection of contractors and subcontractors, securing other necessary 20 permits and licenses, site preparation such as demolition, clearing and excavation, soils investigation, and work done to overcome unusual 21 construction difficulties. 22 Section 14. That Section 303(a) of the Uniform Building Code be, and is hereby 23 amended by deleting: 24 SEC. 303(a) a. PERMIT FEES. A fee for each building permit shall be paid to the Building Official as set forth in Table No. 3-A. 25 The determination of value or valuation under any of the provisions of this 26 Code shall be made by the Building Official. The valuation to be used in computing the permit and plan-check fees shall be the total value of all 27 construction work for which the permit is issued, as well as all finish work, painting, roofing, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, 28 elevators, fire-extinguishing systems and any other permanent work or permanent equipment. 29 Where work for which a permit is required by this Code is started or 30 proceeded with prior to obtaining said permit, the fees specified in Table No. 3-A shall be doubled, but the payment of such double fee shall not 31 relieve any persons from fully complying with the requirements of this Code in the execution of the work nor from any other penalties prescribed 32 herein. - 4 -
