e. Plan Checking: The application, plans, and specifications
filed by the applicant for a permit shall be checked by the
Building Official. If the Building Official is satisfied
that the work described in an application for a permit and
the plans filed therewith conform to the requirements of
this Ordinance and other pertinent laws and Ordinances and
that the fee specified in Section 15 has been paid, he may
issue a permit therefor to the applicant.
f. Validity: The issuance or granting of a permit or approval
of plans and specifications shall not be construed to be a
permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the
provisions of the Ordinance. No permit presuming to give
authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this Ordinance
shall be valid, except insofar as the work for which it
authorizes is lawful.
The issuance of a permit based upon plans and specifications
shall not prevent the Building Official from thereafter
requiring the correction of errors in said plans and
specifications or from preventing work being carried on
thereunder when in violation of this Ordinance or of any
other ordinance of the City.
g. Expiration: Every permit issued by the Building Official
under the provisions of this Ordinance shall expire by
limitation and become null and void, if the work authorized
by such permit is not commenced within 120 work days from
the date of such permit, or if the work authorized by such
permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work
is commenced for a period of 120 days. The Building Official
may extend said permit for an additional 120 days if it
appears that the work could not reasonably be continued,
recommenced, or completed within the time herein prescribed.
Before such work can be recommenced, a new permit shall be
first obtained to do so. The fee for a new permit shall be
one-half that for the original permit but not less than
Five ($5.00) Dollars.
h. Suspension or Revocation: The Building Official may, in
writing, suspend or revoke a permit issued under provisions
of this ordinance whenever the permit is issued in error or
on the basis of incorrect information supplied, or in
violation of any ordinance or regulation or any of the
provisions of this Ordinance.
j . Inspections:
a. All construction, work, and equipment for which a
permit is required by this Ordinance shall be subject
to inspections by the Building Official to insure
compliance with this ordinance.
b. That portion of any construction, work, and equipment
intended to be concealed shall not be concealed until
inspected and approved.
Neither the Citynor the BuildingOfficial nor his
c.
duly appointed assistant shall be liable for any
expense entailed in the removal or replacement of
any material required to allow an inspection.
d. The Building Official may require that every request
for inspection be filed at least one day before such
inspection is desired.
-4-
