Construction: Various building eiements will be required to comply with the fire-
resistive reting requirements of Table 601 & 602 of the IBC. For type V-A constrxtion,
one-hour construction is reqired for roof/ceiling and floor/ceiling as well as interior
load-bearing wall assemblies. Unit demising walls are required to be rated per Section
420.2 of lhe IBC. Corridor walls are governed by Section 1018.1. ShaR walls are
governed by Section 707 and may be one or two-hour fire rated constructien.
6. Ceiling construction: The Floor/ceiling assemblies were previously one-hour
construction with a proprietary listing utilizing Fire Code C wallboard. If a one-layer
assembly is desired to be provided in the areas permitted to be of one-hour
construction, a similar listing will need to be prcvided again.
7. Penetrations of fire-rated assemblies: Penetrations of fire-rated assemblies are
governed by Section 713 of the IBC. Generally, penetrations such as can lights are not
permitted without additional methods of protection such as drop soffits or fire-resistive
boxes constructed around the can lights.
I hope that this addresses the questions presented.
