.
Charmain Slattery, Administrator
Sunrise View Convalescent Center
CRU N85119-2091-2
June 24, 1985
Page Two
front of the water closet. A bar mounted horizontally can be used to
push one's self rather than pull. Pushing is much easier to do.
For room 204 and similar, an L-shaped grab bar mounted so that the
vertical part of the bar is as close to the door casing as possible
and the other bar of the "L" is mounted horizontal to the floor at the
side of the water closet. WAC 248-14-120(5)f).
2. The grab bar shown at the side of the water closet in elevation B,
Sheet A-7 is too short. It must extend 18" beyond the front of the
water closet and should extend to within approximately 6" of the wall
in back of the water closet. WAC 248-14-120(5)(f)
3. There is only one grab bar shown in the shower stali of patients
showers. Refer to Unit Plan, Typical - Handicap Unit and Typical Unit
Plan on Sheet A-7. Besides the on? grab bar is located over the seat,
making the bar useless when seated and also interfering with the
seating space.
A horizontal grab bar shall be provided on two sides of each shower
stall and an L-shaped bar mounted on the shower head side. The
horizontal bar shall be mounted 31" to 36" above the floor. None of
the bars should interfer with the seating. WAC 248-14-120(6)(e)(iii).
4. There needs to be a paper towel dispenser and soap dispensers at all
sinks and lavatories that are not in resident rooms and toilets.
5. There should be a shelf over or near any wall hung lavatory not built
into a vanity.
6. The mirror at the lavatory in the serving kitchen needs to be deleted
since hair grooming is not permitted in the kitchen.
7, There should be a service sink in the janitor's room #110 since there
is no other adequately equipped janitor's closet on that floor.
8. The specification for the toilet fixture P-1 calls for a solid plastic
seat. This is acceptable ror the toilets adjoining resident rooms
but toilets in common use areas shall have seats of the open front
type. See WAC 248-16-130(3)(d)(ii).
STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S REVIEW
Pete Anderson 753-1296
1. Fire pr,otection during construction shall be in accordance with
Plan Review Information Sheet A1 enclosed (1976 NFPA Standard lul
Section 1-5.4).
