I <br /> Id. Demolition and replacement of the existing standby generator(and electrical <br /> modifications at the existing Dechlorination Building)may be completed during the <br /> I Summer or Winter Season. <br /> 1) If at any point during the Winter Season neither the new standby generator <br /> (because construction is not complete)or the existing standby generator(because <br /> demolition has begun)is available to provide standby power to the FEN pump <br /> I station,an alternative temporary power supply shall be provided by the Contractor <br /> to allow for equivalent standby power capability. <br /> e. The existing chlorine building shall remain operational during the entire construction <br /> I process prior to final Project Substation Completion. <br /> 1) Demolition of the existing chlorine building(and fmal site grading)shall only <br /> occur after the new Chlorine Building is operational and tested and is capable of <br /> delivering chlorine to the new culvert diffuser piping as intended by the design <br /> I documents(i.e. Substantial Completion of the new Chlorine Building). <br /> 2) Temporary power, water and drainage piping shall be provided by the Contractor <br /> to allow for continued operation of the chlorine building during phases of <br /> construction in which those utility services would otherwise be interrupted(such as <br /> I <br /> during construction of the new culvert). <br /> 3) The chlorine/carrier water piping from the existing chlorine building to the <br /> Chlorine Contact Channel shall be protected and remain in place. <br /> I 4) Chemical delivery trucks and City maintenance vehicles shall be able to access the <br /> existing chlorine building and pass from west to east along the north lagoon dike <br /> wall at all times during the construction process when the FEN station in online <br /> and operating. <br /> I f. The Contractor will install temporary sheet piling,earth berm,or other methods deemed <br /> necessary to lower and dewater the working area to install the proposed culverts, <br /> utilities,and grading along new roadway. The Contractor shall use recommendations <br /> I provided in the Geotechnical Report(Appendix A). <br /> g. The existing auto-sampler is located south of the new Chlorine Building. The auto- <br /> sampler is to be protected during construction. The City will remove the unit during <br /> demolition of the existing Chlorine Building and relocate it,at which time the <br /> I Contractor may finish the site grading in the area around the sampler. The Contractor <br /> may be required to raise the elevation of the auto-sampler until substantial completion <br /> in order to complete construction and pre-loading of the dike extension. <br /> 1 1.5 OWNER OCCUPANCY(GENERAL) <br /> A. Owner will occupy and use the existing facilities, including the existing chlorine building and <br /> FEN pump station,during the construction period for the purpose of maintenance and operation <br /> I <br /> of normal effluent pumping and disinfection processes. Access to the existing facilities will be <br /> required and shall be maintained during the construction period within the limitations of this <br /> Section. <br /> I 1. Limited Owner usage of the facilities are permitted during Summer Season offline operation <br /> as allowed in this Section,or as otherwise approved by the Owner. <br /> B. Contractor shall coordinate with Owner in all construction operations to minimize conflicts and <br /> I to facilitate Owner usage, including maintaining all requirements of the Work Sequence noted in <br /> this Section. <br /> 1.6 OWNER OCCUPANCY (PRIOR TO SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION) <br /> I A. Schedule operations so as to complete certain areas of the Work, as designated below,to enable <br /> Owner's occupancy/operation prior to Substantial Completion of the entire Work, as defined in <br /> this Section. <br /> I 1. Effluent manholes and effluent diffuser valve replacement(all phases of work west of <br /> Interstate 5). <br /> 2. New culvert from Polishing Pond to Chlorine Contact Channel. <br /> 3.
