I <br /> 1 Division 2 1 <br /> 2 Earthwork <br /> 3I <br /> 4 2-02 REMOVAL OF STRUCTURES AND OBSTRUCTIONS <br /> 5 <br /> 6 2-02.1 Description <br /> I <br /> 7 Section 2-02.1 is supplemented with the following: <br /> 8 <br /> 9 (February 17, 1998 City of Everett GSP) <br /> 10 The work shall consist of the removal and disposal of various existing improvements, such <br /> 11 as pavements, structures, pipe, curbs, curb and gutter, gutter and other items necessary for <br /> 12 the accomplishment of the improvement. I 13 <br /> 14 All work done with asbestos-cement pipe shall conform to the "Recommended Standard <br /> 15 Asbestos-Cement Pipe Work Practice Procedure and Training Requirements," latest edition, I 16 as published by the American Water Works Association, Pacific Northwest Section. <br /> 17 Asbestos-cement pipe shall be removed and disposed of in accordance with the practices <br /> 18 specified by the State of Washington Department of Ecology and the Snohomish County <br /> I <br /> 19 Solid Waste Division. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 2-02.3 Construction Requirements 11122 Section 2-02.3 is supplemented with the following: <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Removal and Disposal of Unanticipated Potentially Hazardous or <br /> 25 Contaminated MaterialI <br /> 26 No specific areas of known contamination were identified within the work area during the pre- <br /> 2 7 design investigation; however, hazardous or contaminated material may be encountered <br /> 28 during ground disturbing activities associated with this project. Areas of the Port of Everett <br /> 29 (POE) site that have been subject to cleanup actions are adjacent to portions of the project <br /> 30 alignment, and areas of potential soil contamination identified adjacent to the POE site areas <br /> 31 are identified in the Drawings. A Hazardous Material Discipline Report has been prepared I 32 for the project which outlines the history of adjacent cleanup actions and potential <br /> 33 contaminants. This report is available from the Engineer upon request. Subsequent testing <br /> 34 of soils within the work zone adjacent to the POE site indicated that the concentrations of <br /> 35 contaminants associated with the POE site are below cleanup levels.The results of the onsite <br /> 36 sampling are included in Appendix H of these special provisions. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 During project construction, the Contractor shall notify the Engineer immediately if evidence <br /> 39 of potentially hazardous or contaminated material is discovered or suspected through <br /> 40 observations such as an oily sheen or discolored soils that may or may not emit strong <br /> 41 chemical odors. In the event that potentially-contaminated soil is encountered, the I <br /> 42 Contracting Agency will perform all sampling and testing of suspected hazardous or <br /> 43 contaminated material. <br /> 44111 45 Potentially Hazardous or Contaminated Material <br /> 46 Previous investigations in the project area, and/or historical operations indicate the potential <br /> 47 for contamination by heavy metals (arsenic, chromium, lead); total petroleum hydrocarbons 11148 (TPH) in the gasoline, diesel and oil ranges; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes <br /> 49 (BTEX); semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs), including polycyclic aromatic <br /> WEST MARINE VIEW DRIVE UTILITIES PAGE 73 OF 117 August 2018 <br /> WORK ORDER#3588 <br /> SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />
