I <br /> 11 <br /> 2 (a) Removal shall be extended to a through joint or to the edge of the sidewalk if within <br /> 3 4 feet of a neat line. <br /> I 4 (b) The minimum width of new or remaining concrete walk shall be as follows: <br /> 5 <br /> I 76 1) Two feet when sidewalk is or will be supported on each side by properly <br /> placed concrete walk or other improvement that will prevent the sidewalk <br /> 8 from shifting. <br /> I9 2) Four feet when sidewalk is or will be bounded by earth planting strip. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 The depth of saw cut shall be a minimum of 2 inches. Saw cuts shall leave straight <br /> 12 edges and vertical faces. No diagonal cuts in sidewalk will be allowed unless otherwise <br /> I13 indicated on the drawings or directed by the Engineer. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 A concrete walk that is to remain in place will be protected from equipment damage by <br /> I 16 using planking or with rock free 8-inch blanket of excavated soil. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Where sidewalk adjacent to a sidewalk opening is in poor condition, removal shall be <br /> I19 extended to the nearest through joint or scribe mark as may be directed by the Engineer. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Pavement breakers shall be approved by the Engineer before use. <br /> I22 <br /> 23 2-02.3(3)F Removal of Catch Basins, Manholes, Inlets or Sumps, Etc. <br /> 24 The Contractor shall excavate and completely remove the structure including casting <br /> I25 and outlet trap, concrete encasement, and bricks, as applicable to each removal item <br /> 26 listed in the Proposal. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Connecting pipes shall be plugged by filling with Class 3000 Concrete for a minimum <br /> I29 length of 12 inches. Backfill shall be Gravel Borrow as specified in Section 9-03.14(1) <br /> 30 of these Special Provisions. Compaction shall be to 95% maximum density. <br /> 31 <br /> I32 Section 2-02.3 is supplemented with the following: <br /> 33 <br /> 34 (February 17, 1998 City of Everett GSP) <br /> I35 2-02.3(4) Obliteration of Pavement Markings <br /> 36 Construction Requirements: Where shown in the Plans or where designated by the Engineer, <br /> 37 the Contractor shall remove pavement markings. The pavement marking shall be obliterated <br /> I 38 until blemishes caused by the pavement marking removal conform to the coloration of the <br /> 39 adjacent pavement. If, in the opinion of the Engineer, the pavement is materially damaged <br /> 40 by pavement marking removal, such damage shall be repaired by the Contractor at the <br /> I41 Contractor's expense and to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Sand or other material <br /> 42 deposited on the pavement as a result of removing stripes and markings shall be removed <br /> 43 as the work progresses to avoid hazardous conditions.
