I 11 2 (a) Removal shall be extended to a through joint or to the edge of the sidewalk if within 3 4 feet of a neat line. I 4 (b) The minimum width of new or remaining concrete walk shall be as follows: 5 I 76 1) Two feet when sidewalk is or will be supported on each side by properly placed concrete walk or other improvement that will prevent the sidewalk 8 from shifting. I9 2) Four feet when sidewalk is or will be bounded by earth planting strip. 10 11 The depth of saw cut shall be a minimum of 2 inches. Saw cuts shall leave straight 12 edges and vertical faces. No diagonal cuts in sidewalk will be allowed unless otherwise I13 indicated on the drawings or directed by the Engineer. 14 15 A concrete walk that is to remain in place will be protected from equipment damage by I 16 using planking or with rock free 8-inch blanket of excavated soil. 17 18 Where sidewalk adjacent to a sidewalk opening is in poor condition, removal shall be I19 extended to the nearest through joint or scribe mark as may be directed by the Engineer. 20 21 Pavement breakers shall be approved by the Engineer before use. I22 23 2-02.3(3)F Removal of Catch Basins, Manholes, Inlets or Sumps, Etc. 24 The Contractor shall excavate and completely remove the structure including casting I25 and outlet trap, concrete encasement, and bricks, as applicable to each removal item 26 listed in the Proposal. 27 28 Connecting pipes shall be plugged by filling with Class 3000 Concrete for a minimum I29 length of 12 inches. Backfill shall be Gravel Borrow as specified in Section 9-03.14(1) 30 of these Special Provisions. Compaction shall be to 95% maximum density. 31 I32 Section 2-02.3 is supplemented with the following: 33 34 (February 17, 1998 City of Everett GSP) I35 2-02.3(4) Obliteration of Pavement Markings 36 Construction Requirements: Where shown in the Plans or where designated by the Engineer, 37 the Contractor shall remove pavement markings. The pavement marking shall be obliterated I 38 until blemishes caused by the pavement marking removal conform to the coloration of the 39 adjacent pavement. If, in the opinion of the Engineer, the pavement is materially damaged 40 by pavement marking removal, such damage shall be repaired by the Contractor at the I41 Contractor's expense and to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Sand or other material 42 deposited on the pavement as a result of removing stripes and markings shall be removed 43 as the work progresses to avoid hazardous conditions.
