1 <br /> 2 5-06.1 Description <br /> 3 This Work shall consist of the reconstruction and patching of trenches and other excavations ' <br /> 4 in paved streets and other paved areas. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 5-06.2 Materials ' <br /> 7 Provide materials conforming to the requirements specified for the materials in Sections 5- <br /> 8 04 & 5-05 of the Standard Specifications except as modified by these Special Provisions. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 For HMA pavement patching provide HMA CL 1/2", PG 64-22 as specified in Section 5-04 of <br /> 11 the Standard Specifications. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Provide asphalt for temporary pavement patch as either: cold mix asphalt (MC 250) per <br /> 14 Section 9-02 of the Standard Specifications or hot mix asphalt (HMA CL 1/2", PG 64-22). <br /> 15 Mineral aggregate of MC 250 shall meet the same requirements as the aggregates used in <br /> 16 HMA CL 1/2", PG 64-22. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 For cement concrete base pavement patching provide Type III (H.E.S.) with minimum 4,000 <br /> 19 psi 28-day compressive strength and having curing time of five days. <br /> 20 For cement concrete surface pavement patchingProvide concrete mix design in accordance <br /> 21 with 5-05.3(1) Concrete Mix Design for Paving of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 22 '23 Provide crushed surfacing top course used for pavement patching conforming to the <br /> 24 requirements of 9-03.9(3) of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 5-06.3 Construction Requirements <br /> 27 5-06.3(1) General <br /> 28 Schedule pavement patching to accommodate the demands of traffic and perform as rapidly <br /> 29 as possible to provide maximum safety and convenience to public traffic. <br /> 3n <br /> 31 Placing and compact the trench backfill and the preparation and compaction of the subgrade <br /> 32 in accordance with the various applicable sections of the Standard Specifications except as <br /> 33 modified by these Special Provisions. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Before the pavement patch is to be constructed saw cut the pavement so that the marginal <br /> 36 edges of the patch will form a rectangular shape with straight edges and vertical faces. <br /> 37 Provide signs, barricades, lights and other warning devices in accordance with the <br /> 38 requirements of the "Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices" and they maintain 24-hours <br /> 39 a day until the patching work is completed and ready for traffic. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Complete subgrade compaction prior to the required patching. Compact subgrade to 95- <br /> 42 percent as determined by the ASTM D2922 (nuclear method). <br /> 43 <br /> 44 5-06.3(2) Cement Concrete Pavement Patch <br /> 45 Place cement concrete pavement in accordance with 5-05.3 of the Standard Specifications <br /> 46 and these Special Provisions after the Crushed Surfacing Top Course subgrade for the <br /> 47 pavement has been constructed and compacted to line and grade. <br /> 48 Perform all Work accordance with Section 5-05 of the Standard Specifications, except as <br /> 49 modified by these Special Provisions and Standard Drawing No. 326. <br /> 50 <br /> WEST MARINE VIEW DRIVE UTILITIES PAGE 89 OF 117 August 2018 <br /> WORK ORDER#3588 <br /> SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />
